It's crazy that it took Sony until the NEX-7 to add a mic jack and until the a6600 to add a headphone jack to its APS-C cameras. Audio is so important!

i bought the nex 5n cuz of Foxtailz, and loved it to just thatit didnt have wifi capabilities for a gimbal. what about gimbal use with the sony nex 7?

could you please test wifi sd cards if they work with NEX-7? Eye-fi is not available anymore so there is Toshiba, Transcend and ez-share are available which are expensive to buy and fail to use with NEX-7. Thanks in advance

I used to use a Sony Nex 5 and I upgraded to a Nex 7 but I have to say I still prefer the way my Nex 5 photo's look. Seems like I'm always fighting my Nex 7 to get things exposed right.

I shoot Rollei Carl Zeiss Lenses on my NEX 7, and will probably buy a new body if this one dies. 24mp, Giant backlit Sensor, excellent processor, smooth film-like video, flagship NEX, ahead of it’s time. A joy to hold and use!!! Would only trade for an A7, but much easier to focus, and not a huge change in depth of field. I still have two NEX 5n Bodies to get lower light 16mp photos with much larger pixels and smooth transition and HDR like performance

I never use the onboard audio in any camera no matter what it is. Always use a good quality audio recorder. Its the best way to do any professional video.

I bought the NEX 7 about a year after it launched and I still use it (although not as heavily as I once did). The flash shoe originated from the Minolta SLR camera system. It made sense to keep it (for a while) after Sony bought out the Konica Minolta camera division as the Minolta flash guns used the proprietary flash shoe. I think at the time the NEX 7 was launched the video feature was seen as a 'nice to have feature' as Sony had dedicated NEX video camcorders. I don't think much effort was put into the quality of the internal mics or the quality of the pre-amps. Over heating was the biggest issue I had with the camera while filming especially in a tropical climate. Despite having an a6500 I still enjoy using my NEX 7 for photography and very occasionally for small video projects.

@@scaleybangershow5956 It depends on what you call 'budget'. For a modern camera I would suggest the a6100 because it has all the essential features at a competitive price. I hope this helps.

@@scaleybangershow5956 For taking photos of the night sky (stars) you would usually use a wide angle lens. The faster the optics the better (i.e. f1.4, f1.8, f2.8). For wildlife you want a telephoto prime or zoom lens. The type of wildlife and the distance from you will dictate the focal length you need. Depending on the subject you might get by with a 70-300mm lens but more often a 600mm lens may be needed. As for fish, a standard zoom lens may be all that you need.

I have a question about this camera: as far as i unterstand the body does have autofocus right? I have an adaptor on mine for a minolta lens. The lens itself does Not have autofocus but because the Camera Body does the AF should still work but it doesnt. Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong?

Hi! No the autofocus will not work with an adapted lens unless you buy an expensive autofocus adapter. What you want for a Minolta AF lens to Sony E mount is the Sony LA-EA5 A-mount Lens Adapter for E-mount Cameras I pasted that right from the Amazon website. It'll run you $228. Unfortunately even though it's supposed to make the lens work like a typical autofocus lens with this adapter I do see people are still complaining that some lenses still don't function perfect. Honestly my suggestion is to work on getting better at manually adjusting your lenses. I know it can be a time consuming thing and it's not as convenient, but it's a good skill to have and then you can use any adapted lens. Otherwise if you don't think that's too expensive, try the Sony adapter. Good luck to you, hope that helps! Takecare:)

No, unfortunately you can not control it with Imaging Edge Mobile. Also, it does not have touch screen. Hope that helped!

It won't work for the nex 7 because it requires open memories tweak but it might work for other nex models that have open memories. I tried a gimbal hack for the nex 5t that only works on a5000 and up. It didn't work but everything else from the open memories tweak did.

That’s a great question! Depending on your budget, the Sony a6000 is a great camera for photos, as well as the NEX 6 & 7.

gosh, at last, I had feared that the Nex 7 only has an AGC. It's driven me nuts. I have been trying to find out why my latest few recordings have been hissing so much and went straight to the menus to try to find a way of setting the input record volume higher manually fearing that the gain was too low and raising the level would thereby of course increase the s/n ratio. Nothing to be found. Sony have simply included an AGC with no manual override which is so cheap I can't believe it. It mean I have to maintain some sort of noise to avoid the AGC cranking up the input volume in quiet spots causing this gruesome cheap hiss. I totally agree with your complaint in that regard. A massive disappointment.

No entiendo, como si sabe que es una cámara del 2010 con una tecnología bastante vieja, quiere sacarle calidad perfecta después de los 1600 ISO. Es como si una Nikon 5500 que es un poco mas nueva, Le va a exigir a mas de 800 ISO. Tengo esa Sony NEX7 y normalmente la trabajo a 800 ISO y hasta 1600 y no he tenido ningún problema. Para mi es genial aun en 2022. Todo equipo tiene sus falencias y virtudes, solo es aprender a conocer sus limites.
