How to Remove Music Widget From iPhone Lock Screen

I want it off my lock screen even when listening. I'm tired of having to comb tediously through a 10+ hour audiobook to find my place again just because my finger accidentally grazed the lock screen causing the book to skip hours ahead or jump back even to the very beginning of the book. Is this just another of those iPhone "features" that can't be disabled?

tap the art, and it should then minimize. To expand it again, you'd tap the thumbnail art show in the controls.

Completely disabling music notifications does NOT disable the player in the lock screen in IOS 15.

I don’t actually ever use the music app. My problem is that if I’m watching a KZbin video and I pause it, then come back to it, instead of the video paused on the locked screen, it’s a song playing automatically. I can’t imagine what prompts my music app to open and play a song, when I never ever use or even open that app. This is a glitch that happens periodically. I can get rid of it for awhile but then it pops up again. I’m currently using an iPhone 13 Pro Max.

I had the "Not Playing" thing stuck on my screen for hours today. Finally did the trick with pressing play, opening the music app (which I NEVER use), then closing it out. REALLY stupid that I have to do all of that in the first place. There should be a way to permanently disable the thing all together. I have it turned off in settings, but it still sometimes shows up.

Samsung's UI allows you to x out the music player widget from within the lock screen. Not sure why Apply can't add that.

I have always had the lock screen notification OFF in settings and I still get the widget showing up!

Not only have I had the widget showing up, regardless of turning all Music notifications OFF, but the music turns on at unpredictable times. It has turned on when I had Bluetooth headphones in place to listen to a telecon, and the volume almost blew out my eardrums. This is a displeasing bug, and it has almost tempted me away from Apple for my next phone. We'll see what happens now when I call up all open apps and shut Music down from there, every single time I ever use it.

Thanks for this video. The only thing that worked was turning my phone off completely and then turning it back on again. But it did work! Thank god. I had tried everything, closed all the apps, turned off all the notifications. But the player was still right there, playing a song I haven't voluntarily played for about a year. I guess we all have to be tech wizards now, just so we can turn off all the corporate spyware that wastes our WiFi, runs up our phone bill and burns our cell phone battery down every day.

I actually like having the player handy on my Lock Screen but it annoys me that it now shows exactly what’s playing (thumbnail and all). In my previous iPhone it used to be a generic player (no indication as to what’s playing). I much preferred that level of privacy. Privacy now gone! Does anyone know how to address that?

this video is misleading. it does not show you how to remove the widget permanently from your lock screen, just temporarily until you start using an app again. it only shows you how to close down apps that generate the widget. this method doesn't work. player still showing.

No, they are not pointless; not everyone is a computer, whiz and videos such as this are very helpful and have actually worked for some people although unfortunately not for my iPhone XR iOS version 16.2.
