Update-I now have my phone number show up as an option on iPad. I think it was connecting Apple ID. But I honestly don’t know what I did. Thank you for being available to help us. Are you using a new username/email that is a registered apple Id? Both devices have to been logged into active apple IDs.

The blue bubble is iCloud account as those are iMessages. The green bubbles are regular SMS text messages from your phone number.

Hi so thankfully I have my iMessages saved between my iPhone XS and iPad, however I now have and iPhone 13 pro, and have to turn in my iPhone XS to Apple. Will my iPad still save the messages that I had in my old phone even if everything on that phone gets wiped out?? I don’t have the iCloud backing up my messages at all.

iMessage send and receive only gives one option - that email address. iCloud does show the email and phone. I don’t know how to get the phone number to show as an option.

Hopefully you were able to figure it out by now, but I legit just fixed this issue and want to share with you just in case! Eek it’s .Kinda long but here it is- Okay so first sign out of your Apple ID in the settings of the device you’re trying to connect messages to ( for me it was my iPad ) Then sign back in and Apple will send code to your phone to confirm it’s you and you’ll be logged back in. After confirming that, fully sign out of Apple ID on your phone. Then sign back in again and Apple will send another confirmation, but to your other device to confirm and again log you back in. ( It sent to my iPad) Then after signing back in to your phone, turn your phone off and back on, and go to settings on the phone. It finally gave me the 2 options in the setting like in this video -Originally I only had my phone number option on my phone and then Apple ID option on my ipad, but now I have both options in both devices. And don’t forget to confirm -when it pops up that you want messages to send to the device( ipad) from your phone number. Also while I was turning my phone off and on, the phone number confirmation (the step above) popped up for me while messages was open on my ipad. I’m not sure if it pops up only in messages or if it wouldn’t have mattered if I was on the Home Screen, just wanted to toss that out if you don’t get the confirmation, not too sure but that may be the reason? Idk
