I think this whole project series you're doing is really awesome man! To start the entire process again from scratch takes a lot of guts and a lot of grit, and it's so cool that you are doing it and sharing the experience with everyone. I find what you are doing to be really inspiring and helpful in my own journey, so thank you for that and best of luck going forward.

If this was a real project - maybe $2,000 - $3,000. Gym membership is around $200 a year so wouldn't be hard to justify it.

Is it just me or is this the best video series on web design ever here on KZbin?! You know, before this video I was actually worried about Rob. And I have valid reasons: For one, in his first video, which covered his first week in the challenge, all Rob did was tell us that he closed down his former business, his main source of income, that he'll be starting this challenge this year, and, hopefully, he won't end up in the streets and roasting squirrels for food (Lol, I just made that last one up, or did I? Maybe you'll have to re-watch the first video to find out. 😂😂) And then, the next video came, which covered his second week, and guess what? Well, you'll just have to watch that second video as well to know what I mean, because I'm a lazy person. Needless to say, I was beyond ready to watch this video five days ago to figure out whether we'd still be able to watch Rob here on KZbin. So you can imagine how relieved I was (a very concerned human being) after watching this video, and knowing that Rob finally got himself a client. Yasss. And very quickly too. Only two weeks and we're already here. Regarding these videos, so far, I love how realistic and practical they are. It's like watching a reality TV, but with an actual life at stake if things don't end up well, and actual life lessons to learn from. The action, the disappointment, the danger, they're all here. Anyway, this comment has gotten so long. I don't even know why I'm leaving these long comments, since no one ever reads them but Rob. 😂 Looking forward to the next video. I'd love to know how the conversation with the gym owners went. But if I'm being honest, I'm more excited, just a tiny fraction, to know about the other conversation with Rob's initial client. Keep producing great content, and best luck, Rob. 🍀😂

I've read your comment in full. I hope it counts. ;) I totally agree there's nothing like this series on KZbin yet. The stakes, real emotions, it's better than reality TV. Entertainment and education combined.

@@alexdubis3944 I can't believe you've read my comment. 😂 You're one of the rare gems who still do that, or, I daresay, one of the rare people who know how to dig gems on the Internet. 😂 Joking aside, Rob is making history here. And we're lucky we're on the front row to experience it, whatever's the outcome. (No pressure, Rob, 🤣 if you ever read this.)

It would have been also useful to hear the way you phrased the email you sent, or what you said on the call you had. Most times if you call you can’t get anywhere due to the receptionist. Emails don’t really work as they get half a dozen a day I imagine ..

@@FoxWebSchool I had to cycle back because I had this question: what do you do with the costs associated with the website (ie. the hosting fee, domain name registration, etc)? In general, do you get them to pay for the costs and just do the design & development for free? Maybe you can address the logistics of this in the next video. I'm kind of in a similar stage (starting a business from zero, sort of) so I'm going to think about doing the exact same thing as you, following your challenge progress.

@@danielbarbour6294 I was thinking of doing it this way also , but charge for hosting and maintenance about $30-40 per month and use site ground reseller hosting. Free website but you'll have to use my hosting for 1 year. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Just to clarify, did you say you would be doing this project for the gym for free? If so, is this a strategy you’d recommend to build a portfolio when just starting? I’m super excited to follow along with you in the journey, and thanks for sharing!

Hey Nate - ya this one is for free. Basically, the quickest way to get good paying jobs is to show you are worth the money (by doing one or two free projects). I already have past examples but won't be using them for this challenge - so with starting again, this is my preferred way to get profitable as soon as possible.

I think you sent me a message on FB too - but ya it would. Your main focus is initial sites that you can use to show real results. People need to see that there is a real value ($$$) in using your approach to building them a website. If you can show that then it will become a lot easier to sell abroad (and for higher prices).

I was expecting a lot more out of these videos and I’m honestly disappointed. For instance the latest video, you got your first sale! Great, how did you get to it? Like did you do advertising to get it, did you go networking events? This video is basically about you saying oh! I got my first customer, but not quite and that’s it.... no value there I don’t think. I was expecting you to tell us something like, I got my first potential client! To get him I did that and that and so on. But they key piece of info, which I think everyone was expecting is missing!

Cristian Savulescu so I usually finish shooting on a Thursday or Friday so I have it edited by Monday. With this project the first start of the week didn’t go so well so I only landed this deal right before I had to stop filming and fly back home (for that week). I wish I had been able to cover it all in one video but I’m still getting used to filming on the go (while also doing the actual challenge). I mentioned at the end of the video I will cover it next week which is the plan. Thanks for the feedback.
