Great video Rob. Just wanted to ask, when dealing with a client do you send the files to them so that they can upload it or do you handle their hosting/domain? Also, how do the licences for theme forest themes work. Thanks!
@smuggo91305 жыл бұрын
You have one license per buy. You can only use it in one project. To make second one... You have to buy another one. You also get the support from team that made the theme for 6 months(can extend). And lifetime updates.
@FoxWebSchool5 жыл бұрын
I will always try to be the one who uploads it - just a better service and less chance of someone else breaking things. To do this I will ask for their log in details (or they give me "delegate access") or I will set it up and redirect their domain. With the licenses @smuggo has it - get one for each new project. You could use the same one but it is good to support the theme builders so they keep making great products.

I wish I would have seen this awhile back !! A few years back I started to learn HTML, CSS and pretty much had it in my mind that I had to learn everything to build a site and make money . So I got info over load because I went from knowing nothing to trying to cram in everything. To make a long story short I just kinda threw my hands up and stopped for awhile . With personal stuff going on I kinda threw in the towel. After watching your videos I have the excitement again .... Any advice ? Thank you !!

Great! How about the SEO? Is it harder to rank an HTML website then a Wordpress website?

@joeyberrios63445 жыл бұрын
Adrian, it's no easier or harder. SEO is broken into 2 areas: on-site and off-site. On-site is composed of elements such as your titles, meta descriptions, alt text on images, page load time, image optimization, content length, keyword usage, etc. Off-site are things like citations, back links, paid traffic, social profiles, etc. Regardless of your platform of choice i.e. 100% pure html, webflow, wordpress, etc. you want to make sure that your pages load quickly, have good content, contain relevant keywords, and can be accessed anywhere and everywhere. If you're trying to rank locally for a service, say roofing, then you want to create location pages and optimize those to be relevant for the area you want to rank for. Example, if I live in Atlanta Georgia, then I probably want to have several location pages that cover areas within Atlanta, including Atlanta. Once your site and pages are setup, it's literally a waiting game. You can use Google or Facebook ads to drive traffic to your website but unless there's a reason for someone to visit, you're going to lose them quickly. You want to make sure you offer enough quality content to increase "dwell time" i.e. how long someone stays on your website. The more you educate a user, the more likely they are to reach out and get more information from you. To sum it up, platform isn't as important as good SEO practices.

Great video. With these html templates what’s the best way to format them for mobile?
@HeadsAndTales5 жыл бұрын
1) How do you know the client is going to approve the design? If they want something different you just buy a different licence? Or do you show them a live demo before buying the licence, but that seems unprofessional since it probably has creators branding all over before the purchase. 2) if they like the design but want a bigger change how do you react? I'm sorry, idk if you know how to code
@FoxWebSchool5 жыл бұрын
1) This will take some practice but you want to see your services based on results - not just "how it looks". When you sell how it looks then that is all people will focus on - and EVERYONE will have a different opinion. When you sell results though then the focus is on if it works/helps. To sell results you got to change how you talk about yourself and you services - you got to positioning yourself around helping their business / getting them value. 2) I would ask them why - if it isn't about better results then they would have to pay. Again this is connected to point #1 but they hire me to help their business - not to design whatever they feel like. Any design changes have to be based on what is going to get the best results for them - but I am open to feedback, as long as it is focused on the right things. Overall this will all come down to experience and also working on how you see/sell yourself.

Thank you so much for your content! I love your focus on the business process vs design. I found that a lot of clients want a blog for their business for SEO. Wordpress and other builders provide a CMS for clients to do this with a template, but that obviously would not be the case in an HTML template. How do you handle those clients? Do you charge them to accept their post and publish it for them?

Hey Fox! When in the video you upload the Assets Folder to Filezilla you're uploading a lot of unnecessary things that are there for other templates that you are not using, am I right? So, my question is, would you take the time to delete all those files when you're doing a web for a client to save space? Thanks very much.

Santi Merino ya to keep it simple I uploaded it all. There is a lot of things that could be removed or reduced though. The theme will contain everything for every type of project so there is a lot of potential to reduce that down.

I asked a theme creator directly and they said normal license is 100% fine. Just buy one PER project if you do a few sites with the same template (it helps them out to make more great themes/templates).

I have an HTML Template. I would like to find a solution to be able to change the Header and the Footer just one time instead of changing them in every new page created. Is there any simple way to do it? Many thanks in advance!
@FoxWebSchool4 жыл бұрын
There are some things you can use to code that up but the simplest way is to just copy-paste the same code across each page and then make your edits. Once you get over like 10 pages it makes sense to stop using HTML for reasons like this. But if it is just a few pages it isn't too bad.

Ya super easy - the value is going to come from using it as a tool to help a business. That could be from helping with sales, to better messaging, to finding more ideal customers, to reducing time or stress for the business owners. Ill do more videos on this during the year.
@smuggo91305 жыл бұрын
So it comes from like Copywriting mostly?
@FoxWebSchool5 жыл бұрын
@@smuggo9130 Ya that is one area to add a lot of value but it is just a part of it also. What helps the most is studying their sales system and seeing how the website connects to that... - how can the website help better? - how can the website help sell better to the right people? - how it save the business owner time/stress/extra work? - how can the website open up new business/markets for them? You basically want to be building a business system that does amazing work for your clients. Copywriting is a great place to start but it is still just a tool - you need to always be thinking overall strategy too.

What he's showing is a simple HTML/CSS site, so there are no options for plugins. I think you're thinking about a Wordpress site, which does offer plugins, but is a completely different process. For simple sites like this, any additional functionality that you need (which you could get from plugins in Wordpress) would need to be coded in, usually by a developer, though you can find some snippets online if you're trying to DIY.
