Obviously I won't say who they are but that I appreciate your videos and I can't wait to keep going and turn this into a real business for myself. You earned a sub.

Hey Rob, this one video in particular is very important for me, cause I always tend to be the kind of guy who is proud that he can Code a Website by himself, but then get lost in the process. Really needed this to remind me, that the most important part of a website is not the design, but the results you can deliver. Two thumbs up!

Thanks Mirko. Ya I started this way also and then realized that clients don't care and it burns up a lot of the project time and "resources". Best to just get it done fast with themes and focus on where to add the bigger value.

Question: Amazing content by the way. Lucky to have found it at this point in my career! When you have to do more advanced coding or need a database for logins, booking, inventory, and sales... so on. Do you use third party software, use wordpress, or draw from open source? How do you approach that sort of thing? That could end up being a lot of coding for one person.

Great video! I personally prefer VSCode over Brackets ( Brackets has almost 2.6k open issues so far on github ). And I don't know about you guys but everytime I had clients who only needed a static HTML website, they always came back for small tweaks like changing some infos or some photos, and ofc you can't charge them for 10-12min. Yes static wwbsites are easy to build but can cause you a lot of headaches if you have multiple projects like that. That's why even the smallest website I prefer working on WordPress, this way they'll be able to make those "small" tweaks themselves 🙂.

Its simple to deal with, in your contract you just say you can have 3 changes of photos etc in the first 30 days after that there will be charges for any none agreed changes. Obviously the amount of agreed changes is subject to how much you have charged for the website ie is it a $2500 or $10,000 or even $25,000 and what charges you have agreed for support. Easy Really

You are the best! I have a question regarding theme licence. 1. I have bought the standard licence. But there it says that I am not allowed to sell a product or service to the end user if I used the theme. or I have to buy the theme for $800 if I want to sell something to the end user. 2. Can I use the same theme on multiple projects or I need to buy the licence for every project. Is there a chance to have the website take down? Thanks!

I found watching the video a lot easier than actually doing this. Getting assets to work, finding the exact place in code to amend, some CSS files were compacted and impossible to read. Web builders are much easier but I really want to be able to do this way.

How much would a site like this cost? Asking for myself to get a better understanding of how to charge for a template site vs a custom site. I use WordPress.

Hey Rob, I know this video is getting close to a year old, but I had a question on the topic of using templates for clients. I am getting close to launching my web design business, and as a "solopreneur," I am looking at how to streamline some processes to speed up my turnaround time. (I am working a fulltime sales job until I can successfully transition to doing web design full time, my full time job takes roughly 40-50 hours of my week, so I figure I only have around 20 hours a week right now for my web design business.) One thing I was considering was using high quality templates to get my projects started, cutting way back on the amount of time I'd spend coding a website from scratch. I will be targeting small businesses, and I would rather use my time optimizing content for SEO to bring more value to the business. I think this will allow me to offer a good amount of value and a competitive price. I also like the idea of how well tested some of these templates are, and the reviews on some are also extremely helpful. So to my question(s): What do we need to disclose to the client about using a template, if anything? Or do businesses not really care/ know the difference if it is custom coded (unless absolutely necessary)? My fears are that any mention of a template will cause the client to lose confidence or trust in my expertise. I can very well build from scratch, but that seems very inefficient with how accessible and effective alternatives are, such as webflow and template marketplaces. Thanks for any input here.
@FoxWebSchool3 жыл бұрын
Great question - there is no need to bring it up as long as you don't mislead them either in the sales stage. The bottom line is the client doesn't need or want you to make everything custom - it might impress people on Behance but businesses don't need it. What they need is for you to work in a way that gets them your best results - so using ways to save time (to apply it elsewhere) helps them in a huge way. If you can build the foundation of your website fast and professionally using a template then 100% do that. Ill try make a video on this exact topic when I am back.
@mariogluck13753 жыл бұрын
@@FoxWebSchool thanks for the quick response! It is exactly as I heard you in the beginning of this video then. We are in the business of selling the end result, a website and the results it brings, not the actual development or custom development, and it's not particularly important how we get that finished result. I suppose I just needed reassurance as I am nervously getting closer to starting to sell some projects. Thanks again for the response, and thanks for the great content!

Answer depends- If your design skills are amazing ( like top 0.1% ) and you work with very high level clients or high traffic websites - then just conversation focused design . But a package or full growth service is a good option for starting or very small traffic business. Hope it helps

Either approach can work but if you are still in the learning stage I would say one thing at a time. It is going to make it harder to progress if you are learning a lot of different skills at once. Get solid with one, then add in the next.

HTML websites are the way to go, they're easier to build, have faster page loads and better security than CMS's like Wordpress. I built an open source tool called Plentico that will let your clients make edits to sites like this in case anyone is interested. You can host it right with your static website for free.

Then do amazing work by using templates and themes and surprise them , you can ask for some free stuff from them ( Free food pass or any service ) and ask for a referral ..
