I remember way back when I felt only yon wee Like nothing could complete me No promise of a rising sun Illuminating everyone The very thought defeated My life was a blinded light Must be what it's like when worlds collide Especially when he sees her Pretty soon he'll tease her I was on the road too long My laboured lover only song Not one of them a keeper But if I woke in the morning to find you were gone I know I'd try and find the will to be strong But am I strong enough? Am I strong enough? I once built a tower, I could build you a home Together forever but forever and on Is still not long enough, still not long enough You look confused in your eyes And I could see myself as a child Such a devastating feeling I wished I could go back in time But all I could do was apologize Right then your eyes were healing Healing Oh, if I woke in the morning to find you were gone I know I'd try and find the will to be strong But am I strong enough? Am I strong enough? I once built a tower, I could build you a home Together forever but forever and on Is still not long enough, still not long enough Oh, I've been Cain but I wanna be Abel Been a drunken fool but I wanted to be stable enough To lay every one of my cards on the table Hope it's not too late for us to find a way to If I woke in the morning to find you were gone I know I'd try and find the will to be strong But am I strong enough? Am I strong enough? I once built a tower, I could build you a home Together forever but forever and on Is still not long enough, it's still not long enough I will look, get inside myself for a home Find only a sapling in search of an oak Better to start my love, oh it's a start my love But am I strong enough?

I felt only ennui* My life with a blinding light* My labored love brought only songs And not one of them could keep her* I once built a burrow, I could be you a home* The look of fear was in your eyes, And I could see myself as a child* I went looking inside of myself for a hope, Found only a Sapling in search of an oak, but it’s a start, my love*

See Foy's Highland version for the actual lyrics...... this is why people shouldn't try to " interpret" lyrics..... also leave the comments so others can be educated....Willy from Ohio

I looked up his lyrics and it's actually, "I once built a bower...", which I looked up bower too and it's a pleasant shaded area

I heard this song today for the first time today. Me and my wife lost a child when we were much younger, this song and these lyrics felt so specific and validating to my feelings of that time. It's not exactly the same thing but something about the love in his voice I resonate with. This is a masterpiece

I left my partner of 30 years, and wife of 20 one year ago this very week. I was defeated. I am still defeated. This song gave me hope that love does not die with the passing of one relationship, that I can be strong enough to build anew. To be the sapling once again. And to be someone's oak.
