What a privilege, thank you! A real offshore machine. I could stare at those lines all day. Shame they don't build them anymore... stunning. And thanks Sue, you show these vessels the respect they deserve.

I never thought of a boat as anything more than a platform from which to fish but seeing these unbelievably unpretentious FPB's makes me want to do some cruising. Now, I just need ten million bucks.

Beautiful yacht! Truly nothing else out there like these. It's a shame Dashew decided to stop production on them, but I understand he and his wife wanted to get back to doing what they love...cruising! I'd say that's going to make the few FPBs out there very collectible. The amount of research and development they put into each and every component was phenomenal and that boat will literally go anywhere on earth without a problem. Wish I'd won the lottery in time to get one for myself. Alas, I'll have to be satisfied with KZbin videos like this. Thanks for the tour!

The designer, Steve Dashew, has a website with extensive information. Sersail.com If you are interested. They are amazing boats, unfortunately they aren't going to build more but the concept of a fast, seaworthy, efficient yacht is very attractive and his designs do it very well. I thought they were ugly at first but they grow on you and the functionality of everything on these yachts is at an entirely different level.

Thank you for a walk through. I have been begging Steve for a walkthrough for a couple of years, even during the build but I guess he figured photos were enough. An actual walk through video gives a much better feel for the size of a space. Kinda surprised to see her open for charter. I hope the Dashews are well.

To cold.. Being Swedish i get exposed to way to much cold... My problem with this yacht is the interior colors.. They are way too bright. When you live in an cold climate you long for warmth. If the the bright woodwork had been in teak/mahogany she’d been a stunning ship. Btw, I hate to freeze.

It’s as beautiful to me as the Wider 165 ‘Cecilia’ or the Cantiere Della Marche 111 ‘Mimi La Sardine’. If I ever were to hit the powerball I’d be hard pressed to pick which style I wanted.

"Coded to MCA 0" "MCA compliant" but they are not classed or classified or certificated. But 78 ft is the magic cutoff molded length, so it doesn't matter. But this is not the same as charter classification to any spec. They were not serial production boats and certain classification requirements were too cumbersome to meet and not practical to the scale anyway, like 4" high door thresholds in some places, among other requirements. But the scantlings exceed the MCA requirements and there is lots of redundancy. I applaud Dashew for thinking of damage control as well, even though it is OK in an ice field. Most importantly they are built better than most any boat of this size. The 78 is the zenith of Dashew's industry and productive life. My final critical comment is that tractor engines are not the best for marine use, although lots of people use them. You've heard the old adage "Cats don;t like water," etc. MAN would have been the best choice or even the larger Yanmars, but not Deere's. But I wish he had kept going with the 97 for those wanting to cross any ocean, but alas Iceberg was a one off, so I will have to bend my own aluminum. BTW, Sue, what was the purpose of this video? For their charter operation? or are they marketing them? Cheers!

We are working with Dashew Offshore to offer the definitive brokerage service for these yachts. They are no longer in build. The owner of GREY WOLF II, and previously her smaller sistership FPB 64 LOUP GRIS (ex. GREY WOLF), has very kindly taken a number of Berthon apprentices onboard over the years. Their activities can be read about here - www.berthon.co.uk/greywolf/. Kind regards.

As Steve Dashew explained the wire railing is more forgiving when rafted up to another boat or tied alongside. Solid railings have little give and therefore damage more easily.

@@BerthonInternational Just watched it! Cheers (Sue?) I’m shocked! I’m newly retired, with some resources on hand, but I haven’t sold my primary property. It’s to be listed in March 2022, and should sell very quickly (I’m in Canada). I’m going to be kicking myself on seeing this rare opportunity go by! In spring/early summer next year, I’ll be relocated to Canada’s west coast, in a small condo, with serious boat buying loot in hand. She’s a lovely vessel, in super “ready to go” condition! The oxidization of the aluminium actually looks marvellous. Fingers crossed, there’ll be an opportunity on a 64’ between next spring and prior to winter 2023. I’m itching to begin my adventure and the clock is ticking on my physical abilities that will be required for the cruising life, even on a FPB! I would wait for one, if the opportunity was serious. Thanks so much!

Those are the lines of “go anywhere, anytime, safely.” That’s what raw seaworthyness looks like unless you have a much larger boat. I agree with one poster that if I were to build something like an FPB I’d elect some warmer and more diverse interior colors to offset the cool tone of all that wonderful aluminum, but I wouldn’t change a single line of her design. Mr Dashew has spent his life at sea and poured decades of his knowledge into the FPB designs, particularly the 78 and later series. Owners have taken them distances and destinations other yachts would fear to go. Who am I to second guess success?
