I have been watching wire since its inception and never missed an episode and this is 2nd best guest episode ever (hof 'big table' meetup will prolly stay forever no1), great flow, a lot of relevant topics covered more focus on style, pland and thoughts on midterm plans then stats (i love stats but for guest episodes not need to cover them when we get that in regular weeklies) ❤

Loved this pod! More and more talk of FPL review and models. I think users can use it for ideas but not as a decision maker. The concept of an "educated decision" is key, models also are rigid in terms of risk tolerance. Interesting stuff!

I'm so happy people are picking Flekken as their GK on a wildcard, especially for gwk 4. Brentford are playing Man City(a), Spurs(a), West Ham(h), Wolves(h), Man Utd(a), Ipswich(h), Fulham(a), Bournemouth(h). I see 2 clean sheets max for Brentford by the middle of November.

If you WC you're having the same GK for at least another 12 GWs, but could be as long as 20-30 GWs. Fixtures average out over that long a time.

For me personally, I never believed that he was overhyped, I still think he's a pretty decent player however I went against him at the start of the season because of the wealth of attacking options Chelsea now have I was always scared that Nkunku was gonna get benched.

@FMLFPL It took a dive after we lost Pope. Prior to that, it was the best defence in the league in 22/23, and up until December 23/24 when Pope got injured, we were 1st on clean sheets, and 2nd on goals conceded (6 cleans in 14, 14 goals conceded). This season we had to play the first game with 10 men, and then the 2nd and 3rd games with a 3rd choice RB filling in at RCB. We now have Pope back, Schar and Burn at CB and all full backs fit. The comparison is 22/23 and the 1st half of 23/24 where we were elite, not the 2nd half of last season with Dubravka, who literally can't dive to his right.

@@davidh675 i think pope was a huge miss last year for sure, i didn't say you're the worst defense in the league (what happened in that long bad run middle of last season) but just midtableish.. pope and joelinton were both fit for the bournemouth game when you guys got destroyed in the lead up to the bad run... also keeper being hurt doesn't account for conceding xg at the rate of luton and manchester united for five months -- xg has nothing to do with the keeper's diving or saving abilities. newcastle turned into a sieve and early doors this season it's been more of the same, even if you throw out the first match bc of the red card... i'd weight the most recent 5 months of last season and first three games this season higher than i would the other part

@FMLFPL I'd put more weight in 20 months worth of playing data, than 6 months of playing data, which is essentially irrelevant because of the personnel available during that time.
