The main difference besides the converter is actually the #6 size nib and extended feed on the v2 verses the shorter feed and #5.5 on the v1

I have this pen and nib- got the green ebonite one. I love it for sketching :) It's pretty great and is my 3rd best flex pen I own. I only own four. listed in order of preference: 1.waterman 52, (just ordered a Noodlers Boston Safety for it so it might be my go to sketcher! 2. Mabie Swan nib in a Noodlers Boston Safety. 3. FPR ultra-flex. 4. Noodlers Ahab with FPR flex.

Hey Teoh, ya need to ‘temper’ the tip of the feather by taking a container of sand and heat up the cap trainer of sand in the oven, put the ‘nib’ of the feather in to the sand. That’s supposed to make it a LOT better for writing and drawing. I’m not sure exactly on the procedure of it, like what temperature the sand should be, how long to hold the nib in the hot sand, etc. But, I’m sure you could find it online!HTH!!

I am in LOVE with the #6 flex nib that is available from FPR now, I’m Extra Fine at that!! I just had a bad experience with this pen and use the nib on other pens

FPR nibs and feeds are supplied by Kanwrite which is also the OEM for Noodlers.

I have one of these on order. I also have a Jaipur V2 flex nib. Yes you go through nib but less quickly than a dip pen nib. I use mine for calligraphy. It means you can get into the flow of your work more without having to constantly interrupt with dipping.

My japypur doesn't write very well.. Ink interruptions all the time.. Not agréable... Something spécial to do with it ? Ciaoooo JF

It does seem to put down quite a bit of ink, but that might make sketches interesting. I have the Noodler’s Ahab, but never thought it was very flexible and I don’t use it. I might have to buy this pen...sketch is very helpful to see effect.

Thank you for the informative video, Teoh. I have been researching flex FPs and this seems to be a winner. The only thing that gives me pause is the large feed because I tend to draw with the pen at a lower angle. Can the feed be changed for this pen? Do you find this to be a big issue when you draw with this pen?

I’m not sure if they have other feed. Or ask the seller and maybe suggest a feed design. My pen is usually at 45 degrees so it’s not a problem for me

The pen writes beautifully. But how do you deal with smell? The pen converter stinks terrible (only the convertor, when pen is closed, it doesnt)

I have the regular flex on my Himalaya right now. I see little to no variation but it is "softer" and feels good against the paper. - smooth.

It’s not unexpected for flex nibs to put out more ink. To draw thicker lines you have to use more ink.

Does the nib actually flex without having to put x pounS (plural) pressure on the nib like a Noodlers "flex" (note quotes) requires?

If you have used Noodler's flex nib pens, you have to apply the almost the same amount of pressure, maybe slightly less.

Which waterproof black ink would you recommend?

Noodler's black or Platinum Carbon. Both are inks I've used and can say with certainty are waterproof. Noodler's Black is dye based; plat carbon is pigment based, so it's a bit thicker and dryer, and may not work as well with some pens, but has not caused any problems with mine. Just remember to clean out pens with pigmented ink if you plan on not using them for a long time.
