While I agree with you that there are a lot of bad default settings, I believe devs are mostly concerned with default settings that present maximum compatibility to someone loading up the game for the first time. I struggle to blame the devs or feel bad for a player who chooses not to look at the settings menu. Especially in a competitive FPS game, players should know that they need to check settings & controls to adjust things for their use case and preferences.
@StruthGaming Жыл бұрын
That's sort of the point though, there are plenty of casual players out there who don't even know that it's something they should be doing. Devs could easily help them out by choosing more appropriate defaults.

@Perjoss Жыл бұрын
I would even say that the more competitive FPS games could very easily implement an aim advice tool that lets you know what percentage of your shots are over or under-aimed, this could be a big help in fine tuning the perfect sens for each player after they have chosen a base sense number
@IrrationalDelusion Жыл бұрын
If people are serious about hitting shots, they play aim trainers for that. Those games are already quite lacking in other aspects in terms of aiming. This should be implemented only after settings are optimized and game is polished, when in reality it's 99% not the case in modern games.

What no one talks about is motion clarity on a monitor. I just recently upgraded to a XG2431 with near CRT levels of motion clarity and I can play much better than a random monitor I picked up because it was affordable and seemed like a good deal.

I dont know if this is normal, but some of my friends dont want to turn down their sens to a reasonable level. Even though they could get a massive skill boost just by doing that, they wont bother. But they still want to play the game, and keep getting wrecked 🤷♂️

Been talking about this for years. Devs set new players up to fail. All they care about is that back of the box experience, at the cost of actual performance. The sad part is that most casuals don't even know any better.

Potential skill floor on PC is insane. The one good thing consoles have going for them is that everyone is the same hardware, whereas on PC, ignoring the performance of the PC itself or the peripherals, you can be playing on a terrible setup with the desk way too high and overall terrible ergonomics, that clash against what the pro players use as sensitivities. For example, if you try to play on Niko's sensitivity (CS GO pro) on a desk too high, you'll simply dislocate your shoulder. Then there's the humidity variants on mousepads, mouse shapes being suboptimal for you, and all of this rabbit hole that's much more difficult to manage than simply "connect controller and play". Now, this doesn't mean I'll ever become a console player, but damn I miss back when I didn't have to check so many variables to stay competitive.
@StruthGaming Жыл бұрын
Having so many variables is what makes PC & KB&M so interesting to me. It's certainly a problem for the more casual audience though, or even serious players that are just starting out.

I love that i can chose the gaming mouse that is best suited to me between hundreds of options. And i love that i can change my mouse pad or skates and completely change how the glide feels. I agree with struth, that just makes pc gaming more interesting. But I wouldn't say that its a problem for new players or casuals because when you don't have much experience with gaming mice or mouse pads you can learn to aim with pretty much any mouse shape and mouse pad. If you pick up any razer or logitech mouse that's made for fps games you can't really go wrong. And with mousepads you can just get any mouse pad thats big enough and learn to aim on it. Just maybe don't get a skypad for cs go..xD But I don't think any new player would do that

There are actually AFPS players that play below 20cm and have good aim. Chamo plays on 14cm and dodger on 16cm. Sure, if they tried to learn a lower sensitivity their aim would probably improve but they make sub 20cm work.

most casual gamers dont have the required mousepads and mouse space to play those sens. Companies adopting systems to increase general aim of the players seems to be a far reach and unecessary. (People who want to improve enjoy investing their time amd effort to be better.) Also people who are new to “fps” have difficulty adapting to low sens because the default window sens in general are much higher then the senses you outlined. Companies need to consider “not a regular gamer” playing with low entry barrier. Also, people who want to improve their aim invest time to research and utillize them anyway.

when you're talking about casuals, you're talking about people who don't look to go pro, its not difficult to become average or above average on default settings, and in todays time even casuals can change their sens
@StruthGaming Жыл бұрын
I can't really agree with "its not difficult to become average or above average on default settings". In some games that's just not happening when you're on 3cm/360~. An above average player on defaults should probably be a top 1% player on reasonable settings.

@StruthGaming Жыл бұрын
You've discovered what an outlier is. The average OW sens is 33cm for a reason, not 18cm. For the most amount of people, sensitivities in a lower range will perform better. In CS:GO the average sens is closer to 55cm~. There's a good reason why competitive players gravitate toward these sens ranged for their games.

how would u play pasu or other dynamic clicking do you intercept the target or flick on the dot and click
@StruthGaming Жыл бұрын
I flick and click, intercepting seems a bit unreliable. In-game though, planting the crosshair and waiting for enemies to strafe over it is pretty legit. Something I should do more often to be honest.

@StruthGaming Жыл бұрын
I'll hopefully have some more videos out soon that may help shed some light on this. For now, the one thing i'd make sure you're doing is to actively focus on your target, don't just 'look' at them. This 'Focus' chapter in my OW video quickly covers it - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmeYZopji5Wlqrc That is often a lightbulb moment that can make aiming suddenly click (if you aren't already doing it).

Your aim is mesmerizing. I've been following some of your videos more recently and noticed you've talked a lot about the macro on the subject, like body position, combined arm, wrist, and finger aiming, and such. I might have missed a video on this, but do you train with the Voltaic or Revosect benchmarks and routines or do you just find things specific to what you feel like you need to work on when you train?
@StruthGaming Жыл бұрын
Thank you! When it comes to aiming i'm definitely most interested in ergonomics/techniques and optimizing the way my brain/body interfaces with the crosshair on screen. I haven't pushed any benchmarks in particular yet, but have put a lot of hours into KovaaKs through my years working for them. Mostly just playing scenarios that I find enjoyable (static clicking), but when I'm looking to train and improve i'll usually play more dynamic scenarios like pasu variations for clicking, and a wide variety of tracking scenarios.
