Früh Kölsch Review

Clear golden colour. Good fluffy white head . Nice hoppy herbal and spicy aroma. Some mild fruity esters. Taste is lagerlike, dry, crisp but with some fruitiness. Some bitterness in the finish. Light, refreshing and very easy to drink. Just like a Kolsch should be.

I was surprised to find this in my local Morrisons alongside Haufbrau. Its good to see some supermarkets starting to import more of the German beers & Belgium ales despite potential brexit / custom issues. At £3 they cost more than the macro stuff but it's far better quality, while Krombacher & Warsteiner (bigger bottles) are priced in the middle at £2.30. No doubt prices will go up given inflation rates.

Had a "kölsch" on tap from some local craft brewery down the pub a while back. It was okay but I could take it or leave it. Picked up a can of this on your recommendation and I'm very impressed. Guess I do like the style after all. Cheers
