Awesome! As an avid FX8 MK2 user (still to this day), I've asked Fractal support a couple times over the years if they every planned to release an FX8 MK3. The answer I always got was, "the FM3/FM9 can do all that and more, and sounds better too, even in 4CM with an amp." So I am curious what the VP4 has over the FM3/FM9.

I can tell you what it has BELOW FM9: In 4CM you're limited to mono, simply because there are no more connectors 😕 So for all us stereo riggers, you can use either drives or timed effects. Never both.

For me the kings of the effects are still Eventide h90 , although this doesn 't sound bad at all .

Oh yes, I love Eventide. I still have a GTR 4000 and had two H3000 too. The H90 is great as well, but only two effects for 990.-. The VP4 offers 4 high-end effects for 699.-. Not too bad at all ;)

@@FrankSteffenMueller Well, with taxes and shipping, the vp4 costs $800 , And above all, fractal has a huge distribution problem, it is easier to get an Eventide, anyway I rarely use more than two effects, I guess there is an audience for everyone and an ear for everyone.

@@FrankSteffenMueller Those 700 dollars easily with taxes and shipping become 800 dollars and that is based on availability, fractal is famous for its enormous distribution and availability problems, it is a good option, although even I have enough with 2 effects, anyway, it's all a matter of taste.

@@LaCajaDeSnake Fractal and its European distribution G66 are known for their incredible service and customer focus. I have never met a more customer-friendly company in over 40 years. During the Covid period, there were of course massive problems and delivery difficulties. But almost all companies from all industries had these problems. I think it's great if you're happy with the Eventide and the 2 effects. As I said, I'm an massive Eventide fan and think their effects are the best on the market. Fractal Audio was able to integrate this enormous quality into their devices. Awesome.

Hi! Thx for the informativ video! But I've got one question: how does the drives/distortions sounds and FEELS versus analog devices? Digitaly or naturaly/analog? Maybe You could make a video only with the drives/distorions without to much other effects? Thx, Jenno

VP4 doesnt have midi blocks... so how exactly would you do it? VP4 would need to send a different PC/CC per scene... is that possible?

Even if it was 4 static high quality blocks at $175 each it'd still be within reason. Considering all the flexibility I think it's a pretty interesting deal. Esp if it has some integration features with FM3 as well as a tube amp.

The user interface is new. Quick and easy to use and fantastic sound quality. It's quite small and super light. You get the same sound quality as Eventide, Strymon, Lexicon for a bargain price and you get a great audio interface too! I'm a big Eventide fan. My first DSP 4000 cost 8000.-...then I added two H3000 and a Lexicon PCM70....lol An Eventide H90 with 2 effects costs $899.-.-, Strymon only ever has 1 effect: Timeline costs $449.- and the Big Sky %479.-. $699.- for the VP4 is a bargain.

What are the damn dimensions. Makes me hate fractal for not providing this anywhere. Makes me think “what else is not important to fractal”. So mad about this I spent over 1k on an eventide h90 and a strymon blue sky. Fractal, I was waiting for this….im no longer paying attention to their products… Done. Their customer service sucks too.

Dude, you can find the damn dimensions in the manual at page 54: www.fractalaudio.com/vp4-downloads/ In my experience Fractal Audio has one of the best customer services on the market. Especially the european distributor G66 ist by far the best on the market. Sorry to hear, that you had some bad experience. Cheers :)
