Thanks so much for playing my deck! You played it well Richard. You’re absolutely right about how it works, but there are a couple synergies you missed (for example, cloudstone curios can work as a storm cauldron substitute with enough lands, and if you have enough mana generators you can use just Vesuva and Guildless Commons). Cloudstone in particular is great for the deck, because it allows you to skip the Sabertooth if you have either a Khlani Garden, Dryad Arbor, or field. I’ll be honest, I never thought in a million years I’d get selected so I didn’t write a primer. I’ll do that now though, since it’s pretty clear that you were confused haha.

Nice deck! I play a mono green combo deck. I just use "rude awakening", "eternal witness" and "temur sabertooth". to gain infinite mana then infinitely replay any instant or sorcery. pick your win condition from there.. It'd be pretty easy to slot into your deck, already have temur. eternal witness and rude awakening are hardly dead cards.

I did not see that he had the mana for his combo, but that is very Seth to purposely skip an instant win con to see more shenanigans from the other decks. All for the content and I approve.

tbf with Tomer at least it's usually because he pops off and then the rest of the group player removals him. Like multiple times he's been the first one out this season because if they didn't kill him he would just win fairly soon.

@cephalonsark1530

About the combat in commander discussion, even in cEDH, combat is huge. Tymna wants you to go to combat, as does Najeela. Winota lives and dies in the combat step. Malcolm is a combat damage trigger, Slicer is a combat focused deck. Hell, Atraxa, Grand Unifier occasionally takes people out in the combat step too. Because of Ad Nauseum, you need to go to combat more anyway to keep life totals low, otherwise the naus player will absolutely pop off. As for normal EDH, people absolutely can and should go to combat in early turns. The reason people sometimes don't have normal combat at their tables is because they are all too scared of political backlash. Lowering life totals early helps make your winning turn easier to do. It's simpler to craterhoof a table to death when they have a total of 60 life than it is at 120.
@bluedog4248

Hard agree, especially from the causal side. I play a lot of combat focused decks and it helps to actually get the game going or it just becomes pillow fort and control

@exsnypre I'm inclined to agree. At the same time, I think normal EDH can be a very combat heavy format, likely as much as cEDH, as long as the people involved aren't too scared or spiteful. It really depends on your playgroup. I'm always attacking for bits of chip damage in the early turns but I've met people who are far too scared of provoking aggression to fight early.
@Kestral287
@Kestral287 Жыл бұрын
I'm very eager to teach people to take reasonable attacks when possible in EDH for exactly this reason. People who get mad because a Lotus Cobra swung in on 3 just because they have no blockers are a hard negative in the format.

I agree with Seth's choice not to immediately do his combo. Sometimes in commander, it's not about winning as soon as possible. It's important people have fun and sometimes, in my opinion, if you're playing with friends, it can be correct to not make the best possible play to ensure a quality play experience for the table.
@papaUrabrask
@papaUrabrask Жыл бұрын
Agreed 100% The amount of times I coulda swept the table before any of them got to do their thing is staggering (especially with Prossh) but I always sandbag the goods until everyone has done their thing. Let people play the game, if you're that sweaty for a win you need to counter people's shit or combo off before someone else gets their stuff going then just go play a different game.

the best Ambush Viper is probably Black Lance Paragon 1 more power same mana cost gives death touch *and* lifelink to a target knight, so it doesn't even need to be the one blocking you could use a 1/1 knight token. Or if you've got a big knight with trample you could use it offensively and absolutely destroy a block. Or more likely then trample you can abuse some first strike DT shenanigans

55:00 The actual line is to recast Aminatou +1 to put Phage on top of your deck, Fractured Identity Ugin +1 to manifest her, then use an end step Thassa to blink the spirit. This way, you fully display you could’ve won the game yourself, and you can get a personal victory lunch while everyone else plays for another hour.

Yeah, adults can't really yell or scream for fun like kids, we get in trouble for being loud REALLY quickly. :( Also, I don't like yelling as much because it's less comfortable as an adult, it irritates my throat. Not only do *I* remember gaming via modem, I remember our family was so hardcore about BBSing that we got a second phone line. I used to do Heat Warcraft 2 games, I wasn't bad at it IMHO but maybe I just played scrubs? I could type well and had memorized almost all of the hotkeys, so I did have that speed edge when building my town. In a 2 vs 1 game I waited until one of the opponents wasn't looking at his home base anymore (he was babysitting another mine iirc, so he only checked a few buildings), since I was close to the unit cap and was still producing hard I just started churning out Dwarven Demolition Squads (I'm pretty sure I was human, I liked using Invisible Fireshield stuff, we didn't use the Blizzard/Dead and Decay spells, they were too anti-fun) and wiped out his entire home town, it was glorious. Apparently you don't get any notification if a suicide bomber damages your buildings, it's one of their only upsides. I think I gave them a reprieve (they more or less said that we could call the game or I could let them rebuild and they could try to fight it out, so I 'won' but also ended up losing since it was unit cap 2 on 1. In Heat play iirc I played aggro rush type strategies, usually if you can kill off a bunch of peasants/peons with a few grunts a player will just quit out of frustration. Good times for all I'm sure, at least Warcraft 2 isn't an actual chore to play like Warcraft 1, I can't believe I played that as much as I did, it's so 'hard because you can't interact with the stupid game', hard rather than truly difficult.

Richard, I think it's better to actually admit when you're the threat sometimes. When you are lying, deflecting, and pointing the finger at someone else 24/7, people just stop believing you.

Not really sure what’s the point of playing a deck with a win con, only to not play the win con when you have it. Just doesn’t make any sense… Just don’t pick that viewer submitted deck then… SO confused at that choice. I stopped watching at that point, pretty much made the rest of the game pointless after that.

Shout out to Seth for letting everyone else play their decks out a bit longer and letting us, the viewers, enjoy a bit more content in the end.

Very funny to watch richard not notice the combo ready to go off with the cobra, amulet and guildless Edit: Oops not really a combo. But it is a real good synergy

I don't like it when people draw the game out for the sake of drawing the game out. It just becomes meaningless screwing around which is not interesting to watch. I watched up to the point where Seth had the option to win, then skipped to the end to make sure he actually won. Glad he did, or else it would have felt like a waste of my time to have watched it at all.
