Guerlain Vetiver has grown on me for the past year tremendously, nowadays when I wear it I cant stop sniffing my arms all the time 😁, its hypnotizing. In my opinion, this is the greatest vetiver ever in designers game. Grey Vetiver is great also, but it lacks the depth and the manliness of Guerlain's. Looking forward to try some niche vetiver fragrances.

To me, fragrances are similar to music. If it was composed and created with emotion and passion, then it will stand the test of time. If a song had that hook (frag note) that just fit so well in the composition that it kept you coming back for a listen (wear), then it is a success. Many "mainstream" releases in both music and fragrance come off as mass appealing and boring, and are quickly forgettable. To me, music is a portal to my past, as are fragrances. Thanks for the great work on this video.

Hi Chris. Many thanks for your brilliant videos I have taken so much from. It seems my comment is three years late, but anyway.. when you discuss Dior Eau Sauvage, this black-belt-silver-buckle bottle is actually 2017 version, the nose behind it being Francois Demachy. The original (1966) Eau Sauvage edt, created by Edmond Roudnitska, is in silver-belt bottle. There was also 2012 version (black-belt-black-buckle bottle) with a distinctive heavy mihrr note, mostly unavailable today. I thought this might be of some use. Thanks again.

The reason Eau Sauvage Perfum doesn't smell dated is because it was formulated in 2012. You should be reviewing the EDT from the 1960s that inspired it. That's a true timeless classic. The 2017 reformulation is actually a tad more similar to the EDT, but both are modern takes, inspired by a classic fragrance.

Not sure if 1 Million was supposed to be included in this video as an "Old School" fragrance. It came out in 2008 and like The Fragrance Apprentice stated it was definitely ahead of it's time and is on the same playing field as the newer designer releases as far as smelling modern. I personally don't remember the fragrance ever being popular where I live, or smelling it out in public so it still is enjoyable for me to wear personally. I feel there is a time and place for all of the other classic fragrances mentioned to be used. Some are definitely more "dated" smelling than others. Eau Sauvage still has a modern scent profile to it that can be used on the regular basis in my opinion.

I had Aqua Di Parma. It smelled good and then gone. No time and it was gone. Hardly skin scent./

Fragrances like Eau Sauvage Parfum and Guerlain Habit Rouge are timeless - And Bois Du Portugal is literally the King of Men's Fragrances to me.

BDP is a scent people will continually grow into. Classic but timeless. Younger women are also captivated by the dry down of it so it's a hit lads.

I wasnt a fan of the barbourshop fragrances but it was love at first sniff for Dior Eau Sauvage.

You embraced the Older version of the Dior! Yes, the 2012 version of the Eau Sauvage Parfum WAS a masterpiece! Then we come to a huge failure of the Dior in general. ALL their patches of today's releases of the old masterpieces ARE just a LIGHT hint of the earlers! Sad but very true. I thought your video would do just that comparison instead of sniffing todays patches (except the Diors)😅😅😅

What do you think of Versace L'ohmme & Paco Rabbone pour homme? Been thinking of getting one but haven't really smelled either

I bought Colonia Intensa 11/2018 and wore it every warm day in 2019. Absolutely love it and got so many compliments from it. For example: After a football game I was sitting on the train and a bunch of drunk guys got on 2 stations later. One of them shouted "Wow, who is smelling this good?". I knew it was me because some weeks earlier I was on the train at night. Around 3 hrs into wearing Intensa and because of the AC on the train I suddenly got a scent bubble all around me which carried the fragrance and filled the whole train with the smell. Left me kind of speechless. Smelled glorious! Since then my favourite *by far* for warmer days. And totally agree. I started with Le Male. Everybody was wearing it. Never thought about buying one million. Still have a big bottle Le Male.

@@FRAGMENTAL Thank you :) Watched your Dark Return video just now. Own dark return myself. Because of you I bought for way over 400 pounds on perfume parlour. Sadly at that time you had no affiliate link. Will use your link next time for sure. Btw. also own their version "Colonial intense 1133" and can highly recommend that aswell. All the best - as always. And thank you so much for your great videos. Had a great time laughing because of that intro. Greetings from cologne germany.

Are old school fragrances still good? Hell yeah, old school 70s-90s fragrances is THE ONLY thing that's good in perfumery, in my opinion. All the masterpieces have already been created, so just pick one or few you like most and enjoy them. There won't be anything better than those classics of vintage perfumery, especially in today's day and age of sweet chemical sprays people call perfumes nowadays..

I was never a fan of 1 Million, I had it back when I only really had one or two fragrances on the go at any one time. I then had a boss who wore it but ignoring how popular it was it was never something I enjoyed so I do appluad it for that, it wasn't a simple crowd pleaser at release. On the same idea though, I do always keep a bottle of Tommy around and enjoy wearing it, but that may be clouded by the association, I associate it with great times when I was much younger. The late 90s, puffer jackets, Nokia 3210 etc. So it's always a pleasing smell for me.

That Dior Homme Parfum with myrrh actually isn't old school, it's a 2012 creation.

George chuckling and rolling his eyes at Brut deducts credibility points. It's one of the best fragrances of its style. Tom Ford basically put it in a new bottle and gave it a new name and people go gaga for it and throw their money at it. I actually prefer good old drugstore Brut and have several vintage bottles. Those beat Beau de Jour by leaps and bounds.

Great video boys 👏 Chris JPG Le Male, is legendary and I still love it now, in fact I bought a bottle in the sales 🕺 as I’ve said before I’m no expert and I haven’t got a ‘nose’ for picking out notes etc but surely if something smells good it smells good, I don’t quite get how a scent can be ‘modern’ by that do people mean ‘different’ all fragrance is different and to be fair as ok typing this at the end of the video you clarify your feelings on this but I’m not re-typing 😝 quality will stand the test of time like fine wine 🙏

First off I had great expectations for that Charles Dickenza but I feel like it was just a twist of the original......😏 Second I love that you guys threw that nod to George’s video interruption from his IG story at the intro. The fact that I remember that shows me I spend way too much time on InstaGram 🤪🤪
