Bought a bottle yesterday. Don't really like the opening, it smells a bit odd to me but after 15 minutes up until 11 hours later it smells just magnificent really

Is it new or vintage?

Michael Jimenez The new one, like someone in the fragrance community says, it kind of smells like cooked carrots in the opening.

+Mr. Poopybutthole that sucks. But it lasts 11 hours? That's amazing. Some people complain that their 2015 bottles only last 3-4 hours

Moderation is key. 1 spray has a salty caramel vibe. Underspraying this is extremely sexy and great for work. Overspraying it and you smell like an iris vanilla bomb. Amazing stuff. Projection and sillage is huge on my skin.

I love both DH and DHI. Both are great frags and share the same DNA. DHI is more resinous and creamier. I find DH easier to wear in most occasions. *I'm commenting based on the reformulated juice.

Btw, dhi is widely available here in Russia, every department store and frag retailer has it in stock. Dh availability, in the other hand, is spotty. Beats me why

Just got it! Smelled the the makeup bag b4 even spraying it!! It's a beautiful scent. Right up my ally no part of it irritates me it's smooth right through. I'd wear it anytime I feel is the right time, mainly when I'm dressed to impress!! But it still can rock everyday all day if u please!!

yeah they're very similar. DH has tonka and patchouli in it that separates it from DHI. the tonka really jumps out while the patch adds some depth. i guess that's a preview of a DH review. LOL

Great review, there isn't a huge difference between the vintage and reformulation to my nose. I can list a few minor things, but all in all DIOR did a great job with the reform.

Got the 2013 formulation ( my only experience with this fragrance ) and it is AMAZING!!!! totally worth the hype. The basenotes remind me of the sweets merchants at the bazaar when I was a little kid! It just make a fragrance even more desirable to me, when it brings up nostalgic memories/scents.

Great review on a great fragrance... Always good to hear your take on it... I will say that I am also not around 'club rat' girls either as I am 35 married with a family and frags normally do not garner compliments in my office setting... However this is one of the only fragrances I have had people compliment @ work... My wife likes it but like yours it is not her fav (to my knowledge) but will comment if I am wearing it... I do see this as a night out or date fragrance but NOT a first date...

If you like male scents very powdery almost feminine you will like "Habit Rouge" by Guerlain or "Mouchoir" by Guerlain too ! I like "Vitriol d'Oeillets" by Serge Lutens in Palais Royal in Paris 1st district. Every time i come to Paris i come into this boutique !!

Have you guys compared it to Shalimar Parfum Initial? Fragranticans are saying it's super similar, maybe you can buy that pink juice when you're in a pinch. hehehe
@attuso2011 жыл бұрын
great take on this one guys. have both versions,prefer the vintage but both are very close overall. i compare the hype to Pure malt when it was discontinued. PM was the greatest fragrance ever made when the availabilty was low. once it was re released it was just a great fragrance again. heads up: dior boutiques sells 100ml for $72. as far as the femenine aspect, my fiance wears my vintage Dhi all the time and it smells absolutely amazing on her. its actually sweeter and even more fem on her.

As a woman, I've always thought the Dior Homme line is quite unisex. It fits well on a man and quite sexy with the powdery feeling and spices, but I can't deny that it's more feminine than many female scents. People compare Dior Homme with Guerlain Shalimar Parfum Initial and I totally agree, but I'll go as far as saying Dior Homme is better because of the spices and the cocoa note in the original. If I have to choose, I'd wear Dior Homme.

I never was a fan of Iris, always smelled too feminine, that's why i never purchaser DH or DHI. Then i got a sample of Parfum d'Empire Cuir Ottoman, which has Iris and leather like DH, and i really loved it. It seems the leather does the trick which is stronger in Cuir Ottoman. You should get a sample.

I said the same thing. The reason it is considered so unique is that it is considered revolutionary to make a men's cologne that smells like the lining of a lady's purse. You have to admit the marketing is pure genius. Does this mean Dior's next big women's perfume will smell of male sweat, engine grease, and ear wax? And it will be marketed with the photo of a classy model with the saying, "Smell like no other woman..." lol.

After so many years watching videos about DHI in the community and postponing the purchase of DHI on suspicion of being over-hyped, I decided to purchase it, albeit the post 2012 formulation. My suspicion was correct. Though it is a very good fragrance and I like it a lot, it is not the savior of the world as many reviewers in the community had led me to believe through out the years. Yes, the ladies do like it also, and I'll rate highly (about 8.5/10), but wouldn't give it a 10/10 a many reviewers have suggested. Along these lines, there are a lot of young, impressionable reviewers out there. Their reviews are welcome and do have value. It is appreciated and admired, at least by me, that they take of their time and resources to acquire fragrances and put together a video to share w/ the community their fragrance experience. But one needs to exert some prudence and caution w/ many of the reviews. I feel many reviewers - are too young to give objective reviews - are easily impressionable about fragrances - are influenced highly by comments and reviews already given by other people in Fragrantica, Basenotes, etc, to have any originality in their comments - appear anxious about their participation in fragrance reviews, - are overly too enthusiastic about what they smell without having deep knowledge or experience about fragrances (what I call Sephora and department store educated fragrance enthusiasts). And some of the reviews about DHI have been ballooned. Yes, DHI is a very good fragrance, it is highly complemented, and I will purchase it again and again...however, it is not the super hero of fragrances that many reviewers have let to believe through out the years. One last note, yes, I do agree, I do find it to be a little on the feminine side...so this fragrance is not for everybody.
@FragranceBros10 жыл бұрын
Libra27 Yeah I would agree with you on DHI. I think it's a good fragrance, but not one of the best scents out there, and definitely not 10/10. But I do own it and enjoy it from time to time. :) On the critique of young reviewers, I do see what you are saying, but I would say that there are no requirements to review, and everyone has a voice if they have an opinion about fragrances. And if they are inexperienced and still want to review, I say let them go for it. Otherwise, there's no real indicator of when someone "is ready enough" for actually reviewing. I would agree with you and say that there are many who are impressionable and just want to repeat what other reviewers say, and to those young reviewers I would tell them to step back and just be honest. :) Thanks for watching and commenting!
@SirOreo6210 жыл бұрын
agreed. I guess the lesson was just for me: to know who is who of reviewers to put more or less weight to the validity of the review. I was not the intention of the message to say that younger reviewers should not participate in reviews.

The reformulated DH is actually pretty masculine (I've got a 2013 batch). The vintage is an iris bomb, and definitely more feminine. Dior Homme Intense on the other hand, is the most feminine frag I own and the vintage DH isn't far behind.

DHI only 5 months in this frag game, luckily have gotten my nose on plenty and right now, DHI is numero uno.. It just works on my skin, 24+ on longevity, literally sex in a bottle for us "metro" sophisticated gents. Every time I wear I just keep telling myself "damn i smell good!" Only other frag that makes me say that is Musc Ravageur, but only get 6 hours with that. This is my single/man whore scent if i had a gf, I don't think I would wear it as often as i do now unless she really like it.
@Plucus2110 жыл бұрын
I think this will work on young women only. Older women probably will not like it as much as it is too metrosexual and they did not grow up in the metro era. Women's taste change as they age just like men's do and men should take that into consideration when choosing a fragrance for women.
