Dave, I remember smelling the original A* Men many years ago and could not stand in. After my fiance purchased Creed Original Santal for my birthday this year it re-ignited my love for fragrance. I soon came across your channel (amongst others) and started to look into them much more. I love all of your reviews for the honest opinions and what you do for community! Anyways I digress. So I finally got my nose on this, Pure Havane & Ultra Zest. It was literally love at first sniff. Also a few weeks back I sprayed A* Men on a card and could not stand the harsh opening but took the card home. After 10-15 mins and for the lifetime of the scent I fell in love with it! I'm not sure if it is because my nose has matured like with your taste buds but wow! I loved them all soo much I blind bought Pure Tonka and again I love this. I just wanted to say thanks for all of the videos and continue to do what you do! My wallet does not like me anymore :-) Thanks again...

I get that rubbery note as well. Sometimes it actually seems really strong and other times I barely notice it. That is the only complaint I have with this one, because I don't really want to smell rubbery.

I blind bought Pure Malt after being a huge fan of A Men (and hearing all the hype online). I love the scent but I must say the longevity isnt the greatest on my skin. In addition to spraying PM, I do one spray of A Men to help. Overall I give PM a 8.5. Great re-review guys!

With all the hype of PH when I purchased it the first time during the re-release it was good but I was expecting to it be godlike I need to buy PM soon and maybe see if this is the ultimate flanker...I'm sure its a good one considering I never disliked any of their gourmands yet.

Daver, I completely agree with you. I get that same, rubbery sweet smell in the opening....every time I wear it I always think to myself "where have I smelled this...." to this day I still don't know what it reminds me of. Then that dry-down comes around...I'm going to hoard this stuff, just in case some dummy decides to reformulate :(

+old monkeyKing Enma I also purchased a bottle from Macys last week. No reformulation whatsoever, I have my other bottle from 2013 right here and it's literally the EXACT same juice. Take a break from it and come back or something man because this is still a masterpiece (for now)

Same color juice as the 2013 bottle. Sometimes the lighting / video quality can impact the way colors appear. Don't worry my friend, you still have the original( and only) formulation!

I'm wearing Pure Malt today for the first time since Christmas, and I'm really enjoying it. Liking it A LOT more than I did back in November and December. Of course, I blind bought it with a lot of hope after believing into the hype and was kind of disappointed, because I didn't love it. Still don't truly love it. But I'm just really enjoying the scent today! The berries in the fragrance are coming out nicely. Excited for my bottle of Pure Havane to come in next week. Blind bought as well lol.

Nice review Bros. Please can you do a video about layering this on top of A*men. Dave mentioned that he has moderate longevity with this, Im sure this layered on A*men would be much more prominent and smell good too.

lol... Idk if you drink beer or not. But this smells very similar to how the beer Octoberfest tastes. Octoberfest is a seasonal beer sold in the fall that has a sweet,caramel type of taste so im guessing the caramel is what reminds me of Pure Malt.lol

Ali Zamani No, I've never seen a silver box with this. That makes me suspicious. My box is black. I have the original Pure Malt, not the Creation 2013 version, so i don't know if that version has a different box.

Just got mine delivered today...wow. It's so hard to imagine what this smells like based only on reviews because it really doesn't smell like anything else. But it's awesome. I sprayed it on my hand, and I haven't stopped sniffing it for the last hour...every few minutes "what's it smell like now? still awesome." I love it. I want to get Pure Havane and ToF but I'm curious...A*Men and all it's flankers different enough to justify owning each one?

Hey Bros, great channel! Is Pure Malt much sweeter when compared to DHI, spicebomb or La Nuit De L'Homme? Pure Malt isn't available for testing where I live, so I'm considering blind buying this, but I don't like overly sweet fragrances, which makes me concerned. So do you guys think I would enjoy it based on the fact I love DHI, spicebomb and La Nuit De L'Homme? Also, which one between all of those you guys think is the best in terms of compliment factor, longevity and projection? Thanks in advance.

André Piancó I personally think that Pure Malt is the least sweet from those fragrances--not sure if you would agree or not. I love Pure Malt. It has a sweetness in it from the berry note at the top that is tamed by a whiskey note, and as it dries, it has a sweetness from the caramel smell that is tamed by patchouli. I think if you love those fragrances you mentioned, you would probably really like PM. I hope so anyway. :)

Pure malt is on the less spicy side of spice bomb and less fresh than la nuit. No idea of dhi. I but I think spice bomb>puremalt>la nuit for partying and dhi>la nuit>puremalt>spicebomb for close occasions

If you guys like this, you should try that new bath and body works cologne called mahogany woods. The notes are different with a boozy vanilla and woody smell, but the vibe is similar. Most of their colognes are pretty bad, but that one is surprisingly good. Would love to hear your thoughts on that one if you get the chance to smell it Daver. Just bought pure malt and a few days before I bought pure havane. Instantly loved pure havane, sweet cherry. Yet pure malt I just couldn't get the scent. It didn't seem as potent as pure havane. I kept going back to thr store and trying it out. In the end I just gave in and bought it. I wasn't instantly wowed by it yet it got so much hype on internet I knew there must be something about this fragrance. Was hoping it would be a grower..Yes it is grower for sure..Its probably easier to wear than pure havane too... Both great frags and although they both have a similar dna both have there own type of scent. Obviously one is malt whiskies and the other Havana cigars.

No different. Pure Havane has a sweet cherry note throughout. Pure Malt doesn't have that. I think pure malt is a safer wear. But I also think pure malt is harder to smell on yourself but everyone can smell it. I was turning heads all day wearing pure malt.

There are a LOT of great Whiskeys out there... I do drink a lot of Whisky too but Irish and American Whiskey (Which is what they are and have nothing to do with the Quality) have earned many golds too... ^_^ Oh... And I do not get a plastic note in my pure malt... ^_^

I had the same feeling. I tried it 3 times in the shop and couldn't smell it. Yet pure havane was beastly with its cherry scent. I gave in and bought a bottle regardless. My gf could smell it 15ft away. Its one of those scents.

As far as I know, "Whisky" is the Scottish spelling, and "Whiskey" is comes from the Irish/Gaelic form, and is now universally used for all whiskey not from Scotland (as well as a few within). There is no reason in my view to claim the superiority of "Whisky" over "Whiskey" unless one happens to be particularly partial to scotch. Sure, there are differences in the distillation process, and very many hardcore whiskey drinkers will claim that only a high-end single-malt scotch is "real" whisky, but I'll defend a good Kentucky Bourbon any day. Having said that, its rather ironic that my primary complaint about Pure Malt is that, even though I love it, I expected it to smell more like a really high-end, single malt scotch, which, to my nose it really doesn't. Still, fantastic fragrance, though.

I got puremalt but I don't like... I prefer I love NY for all by Bond no 9 if I want to use a gourmand. I don't like the opening of puremalt with the whisky all the way and the dry down doesn't smell to me like cookies actually this fragance reminds me with no offense to a drunk old man, something that no even my grandpa would wear. Some guys like It and some others don't. I guess this particular house (Thierry Mugler) isn't of my taste and I very sorry to say that....

This fragrance definitely reminds of fall and haloween as well, and of burning leaves and campfires. I wore this one night going to one of those haunted house attractions they have in the fall and it fit perfectly. My favorite fragrance from this house. Great Review as always guys.
