Love this rhythm and it's my 1st attempt at finger rolls, they're not perfect but they're getting better :-)

Nice! The rolls definitely took me some time before they felt comfortable.

wonderful lesson Ken. Just curious , what are the two drums tuned to?
@kenshorley3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I didn't specifically tune them to definite pitches for this because they already sounded good together. But listening to it now I can hear they're about a fifth apart. The 18" drum is close to an E flat, and the 14" one is around a B flat.

Your videos are great. I have a question. Is it okay to do the rolls with your tek hand followed by a ka? I know it doesn't have the same tone, but my left hand has some trouble getting the knack of rolls
@kenshorley3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! Yes you can definitely do rolls starting with tek. Keep practicing the other way, though! It will take some time to build up strength and dexterity in your left hand.

Thank you, Ken! May I ask the brand of the 18" drum?
@kenshorley3 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video! Both drums are made by Cooperman in Vermont, USA.
