Jim, your knowledge about these vehicles is outstanding. I am in the process of acquiring a 78 and am planning the rebuild. Have you now developed the frame sag kit? How does it work and how much do you charge for it. Thanks for the instructional and educational videos. Highly appreciate it.

It is bending strength not tensile strength.

I thought a good replacement for the plywood flooring would be something like Nidacore or some composite like it thats used in boat building and custom campers. What do you guys think?

Just one question , does the toilet / shower kitchen , wardrobe act as a support for the ceiling ? And offer more structural integrity ?
@motorhomerehabranch5 жыл бұрын
Good question. No, the body has all the structural integrity it needs even with the rear cap off. It needs no interior structure.
@fradaja5 жыл бұрын
Jim Bounds so when you take them out , the body is just as rigid ?

@@fradaja Yes! Go for it!

I have original Flexsteel settee, dinette and sofa-bunk from a 1975 eleganza II on my trash trailer (covered) to take to landfill since I advertised it on Craigslist and tried to give it away for free. Any market for that stuff? This furniture is filthy but I offer it free for the framing and the pattern making if anyone plans to go back original. Should I trash it? Thanks. Lee.

How difficult is it to remove that rear hatch?
@motorhomerehabranch5 жыл бұрын
If its 73-74, it;s difficult the screws are spun into brass inserts, the insert spins and the screw, screws you. On late model coaches,put a good screwdriver on the screw, whack it with a hammer, then tighten, then loosen. Still a big job . . good luck

Someone turned that rear panel into a slideout so they could expand the bedroom length.

I’ve been reading your blogs a year now. My wife and I have two revcons. A ‘73 (driveable, but not a functional interior) and a ‘75 (driveable and mostly functional interior). I have a question about the front wheel lug nut torque. Granted, it’s a different manufacture than Gmc and it’s a similar year to the gmcs you repair, but does the GMC Motorhome have a 5 lug bolt pattern like our revcons? Revcon recommends 450 foot pounds of torque! That seems way too high and it would probably break the lug bolts off. Do you have a proper torque spec you go with? We have the 455/454 Oldsmobile toronado engine transmission in both of our revcons. The ‘75 had both of its front drive axles and both front brakes replaced by a mobile mechanic lest year. There was a fire caused by the previous owner and not checking the brakes. It had been sitting in storage for a decade of no usage. The front right brake caliper puck did not go back in to the cavity like it was supposed to. It stayed out and every time the owner pressed on the brakes the puck would put even more pressure on the caliper resulting in a fire there. We flatbed trailered it home from Gilroy, California all the way back to Portland Oregon going 48 mph the whole way.

Lug nuts on GMC's (8 of them) the system being hub-centered (where the middle hole on the wheel fits in the slot that hold the weight, the lugs just hold the rim on, GMC specifies 250ftlbs, because 100 pounds is taken up with flat lug-nut to rim. If your lug-nuts are flat on the backside, I would have at least 250ftlbs or torque
