I would have used some larger rod ends on the pivot to compensate for the lack of ajustment in the cv joint. Also some sort of flex coupler from the driveshaft to the rear end would be a good thing to have for bearing longevity

Hey, Mike! Cheers man, we ourselves like the clamp mill too. This will be something always attached on the roof of my UTV ready to mill (once the first batch comes from production that is). We try to get the final price more affordable once the production is set up and everything is in order.

Good news, if the design fails, you are not shy about cutting it off and attempt a redesign. May have to run the yoke above the driveshaft to get full articulation and the strength to limit flexing.

Is that going to be enough angle to turn sharp enough? A double CV joint maybe to get more angle? That would also eliminate any issues with misalignment, and if using a standard inboard CV on the other end with plung would prevent binding in-out also. Just curious. Looking forward to see it come along.

Really interesting video Donn, very technical work there much like the swivel dumper connection.just wondering why you don't have a plasma cutter instead of all the angle grinder.
@DonnDIY
@DonnDIY 13 күн бұрын
I have a plasma cutter, and I have a homemade CNC plasma table. I prefer the angle grinder since I build things on-the-go and it is faster to cut it than make CAD drawings and set up plasma table (for me).

@DonnDIY okay fair enough,I suppose it takes a lot of time to set up alright but I was thinking hand held torch for the cutting especially the rounding and shaping.and then tidying up with the grinder 👍

I love your work. But seeing the amount of metal you cut with an angle grinder, I have one question: Have you considered buying a circular saw for metal? I don't mean the stationary kind that you already have, but rather a "handguided saw" (sorry for the strange words, I'm no native speaker and can't be bothered to look up all the words I don't know... after all it's the weekend... and I'm sure you'll get what I mean, regardless of some creative neologisms 😅🙈). I'm thinking of tools like the Bosch gkm 18 v 50 or the Metabo mks 18 ltx 58 or the Fein F-IRON Cut 57 AS (uses the Bosch Batteries) I have the Fein saw which has adjustable speed and I have to say it is really nice to cut metal without sparks and especially without all the dust from the cut off discs.

Why didn't you make it symmetrical top and bottom? Is it because of ground clearance? I think it will not help much, if just the upper part of the hinge is bigger. Because top and bottom force will be the same, so the bottom hinge will be under more stress. Or do you make the bushings the same length and just put it higher up? I would suggest to make the top hinge the same way close to the frame and add another, third hinge much higher up.... I'm curious how you will solve it - cant wait to see the next part! :)

Hei! Ma mingi aeg tagasi küsisin Sinult , et miks ei kasuta metsakäru vedu eelmise nn traktoriga. Sa ka vastasid siis, tänud selle eest :). Kuid jah, see lahendus tundub Sinu kasutust silmas pidades oluliselt mõistlikum, teha sisuliselt metsa väljaveo masin. Ootan huviga asja arengut! P.S. Sa oled suurepäraste oskustega, nauding on olnud jälgida Sinu erinevaid projekte.
