It’s funny when you watch a television series from the past that you remember first time around, though you had no idea that a future Hollywood star made one of her early screen appearances, and she herself married a screen legend years later. (Tom Cruise of course.) Very much surprised to see Penelope Cruz in this. Good to see Timothy Dalton in one of his best post-James Bond roles here also.

I feel very sorry for the wife. She was married to a child-man, who from the very first frame - when he sat on the beach, obviously bored, while his wife took the kids swimming - was completely disinterested in his family. His obsession with the Timothy Dalton character was from one narcissist to another.

Such a lame excuse for cheating and dumping a marriage partner: To 'not be in love with a spouse anymore' after initial few years is quite normal; then true, sacrificial love comes into play, which is why marriage vows are as important; especially for the sake of providing a stable home for children born to the couple.

This was a time when leading men were really gorgeous. Dalton , Scalia, Selleck, etc.... Dalton is a superb actor too. What a good movie even though long, very worthwhile. Penelope is a little firecracker! How old was she here?

I remember as a kid when this came out and I was allowed to stay up for it. Best thing I’d seen on the tv and it was really promoted heavily no doubt because Dalton was in it. A bit awkward sitting through the sex scene with my parents sat next to me 😂
