Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) filings revealed that Peace & Paradise, an LLC with ties to Ja'Mal Green, received $28,460 from Vallas for campaign services on March 14 - the day before Green's endorsement announcement. Green was listed as an officer of the LLC at that time. When we assess campaign financing, we are not looking at the candidates' personal bank accounts. We are looking at funds raised and spent by their campaigns. Paul Vallas's campaign raised the most money of any candidate, spending over $18.5 million on his mayoral bid. While Green insists that we published our article to assist the Johnson campaign, our article was a post-election analysis, published over one month after Brandon Johnson won the election.
