I never understood in the movies how the zombies can over run heavy gun emplacements like the zombies bodies are rotting and the heavy guns would just decimate them hell even small arms fire would blow chunks off their bodies

Reloading, Logistic, etc. Heavy guns, take hundreds of seconds to reload, small arms are shorter but with each reload over the span of per se an hour. They get closer, eventually overwhelming the base.

If you go back to World War Z (the book) small arms turned out to be way they defeated larger hordes. If i remember it was more of an enormous square infantry formation with ranks for reloading the lines and a forward element of canines to distract and separate the zombies. Theres the battle of yonkers early on where they open up on a horde with bombs and armor only to completely obscure the field and incendiary effects dont mean much to zombies. I suppose open plains terrain does tend to favor armor if the horde has a main focal approach.

That would have been an excellent time to superelevate a couple of Mk19 for some indirect fire from a couple of humvees or LMTV. B/c while the 792 is excellent for that purpose, the HEDP from the Mk19 is better for area targets.

If you mean the red things those are tracers. Their a type of ammunition that can be seen once fired. So you can track where your bullet goes.

Completely meaningless. 1. zombies would run towards the source of the noise i.e. tanks etc. not sideways 2. If they did not have a damaged head then the shot would not immobilize them 3. after several minutes the army would be left without ammunition.
