Fix for the frozen hose... wrap the hose and some heat tape with pipe insulation. You can plug the heat tape into an outlet that turns on when it is near freezing and shuts off when temps are above freezing. Good progress on the house!!

small safety tip, Allie, rather than holding each individual rung as you climb the ladder, put the tape in your pocket and hold the outside rails of the ladder. You don't have to take your hands off the ladder and regrip with each step. Just provides a little extra measure of safety.

My grandfather taught me about lubricating wood with a bar of soap so in odd assembly situations like your post the tongue pieces would slide together. Wood screws install really easy with a bit of bar soap on them as well. Just a tip for any future projects! Great idea using the ratcheting strap to pull things together.

Courage and conviction has a lot to be said and you have really done more than I would thought of a greenhorn when something of this magnitude goes up and is done. If you drain the hose each night, it will be free of ice the next morning, I had to do that when my well failed one winter, each night disconnect the hose, each morning reconnect it, such fun in the freezing cold.

We use a heated hose for our 30’ tiny home. They are expensive if you’re only going to use it temporarily.

We use an electric heated hose for our RV and it works wonders as long as the frost free hydrant you’re connected to doesn’t leak like where we’re at right now 🙂

I’m sure Terry doesn’t have a enclosed underbelly like ours. So we bought the tank blankets which is run on 12 volt. It was really easy to install and it goes on automatically when it hits 40 or below. Might be worth a look into. Bought ours on Amazon

Here in Montana. I noticed that the people in the campground near us. Wrapped blue tarps around the bottom of the trailers. So it must make a difference to keep it warm. The wind was blowing, but tarps didn't move.. So any of your scrap building supplies could underpin Terry.... Tyveck and Styrofoam.. Instant warm floors..

I just bought a used billboard tarp to skirt my camper with! It only cost $100 and its insulated and very sturdy! From past experience I know to ALWAYS skirt a camper in the winter! I was using just a tank heater but it stopped working TWICE! The first time I didnt have skirting and all of my pipes froze. The second time I had skirting and everything stayed perfectly warm! It's worth the investment!

We would put bales of straw around the old farm house to keep it warmer! I think the tank blanket sounds great and will look into getting one for my kids 19ft trailer, which they use when they go fall fishing.

I seriously hope you guys are going to have harnesses when doing the roof? They cost $100 ea for the whole kit at Home Depot complete with the slider that moves up the rope, I would have used them for sheathing the top parts of the walls.. Yes I have had ladders slip sideways on me!

I'd rent a propane construction heater and connect it to that 2000 gal propane tank, until the house is sealed air tight. Surely, they've plumbed in the propane supply line by now.
