France: A630 Bordeaux Ring Road

Magnifique vidéo du périphérique de Bordeaux caractérisé par l'autoroute A630 et la N230. Son tracé : il dessert les autoroutes A10 (direction Paris), A63 (direction la frontière franco-espagnole), A62 (direction Toulouse) et A89 (direction Lyon). Aux heures de pointe et à chaque week-end de départ en vacances, le périphérique bordelais est saturé (bouchons attribués essentiellement au trafic de transit nord-sud puis au trafic local). Pour fluidifier le trafic, à chaque bretelle d'entrée, des feux de régulation d'accès sont installés. Quand le trafic est ralenti, le feu est rouge (patience) sur une bretelle. Quand le trafic est fluide, le feu passe au vert et les véhicules peuvent y accéder.

That A63 junction is massive! I didn't realise that western side was mostly unlit now though, mid you it's been a few years since I've been down the Bordeaux way.

I usually do take the west side when I travel down to Spain, I found it far better and easier.

Still 1 week for summer vacation :)!!!.Okay guys listen. During the summer vacation this ring road is always jammed. So here is my advise: Go against the clock (via Merignac) on the ringroad, the distance is bigger but most of the navigation systems take the fastest/shortest route and thats going with the clock (via bègles).

There is also almost no truck traffic on the western ring road as you can see in the video. N230 is loaded with trucks.

The Bordeaux ring is frequently jammed during peak hours on working days, and even on some weekends, but that particularly concerns the Eastern Ring.

I have no idea, according to Google Earth historical imagery, they started on that site around the same time that A630 was being expanded to six lanes. Perhaps it's some kind of depot for road construction?
