France mass strikes bring a million demonstrators to the streets against pension reform

More than a million people marched in France and strikes disrupted transport and schools during mass protests against President Emmanuel Macron's plans to push back the retirement age to 64. Elaine Cobbe spoke demonstrators who disagree with Macron's plans to have them work later in life.

Sorry i m french so my english is bad, but i need to tell you .. our demonstrations are very very happy , cool , nice. You just can see violence in paris , it s just a very lettle part of parisian demonstrations, but everywhere in France people, dance, sing, paint durind this Times. People came with baby , child , grand mother. Of courses if the gouvernement go on we are ready to figth. For us the capitalism is dead and we dont want dead with him, we are not communist , we look for a new way to live, and we need you whereever you live. Do the job too. I'm curious. If France cannot reform/change the pension system, how will France balance the accounts for the future? All countries in the western world will face more competition from India and China. Automation and Artificial Intelligence will also take more jobs away from humans too.

Capitalism doesn't work anymore because of the development of automation and artificial intelligence. The first Nation to adapt to this new change will become a powerful country.

The anger grow week by week, and violence will be légitim soon (unfortunally) ,and the responsability of it will be for our prez ..even mainstream medias begin to understand this.

I really hope that the French stick it out and doesn’t cave in to this increase in retirement age. If the government, the corporations and those in power had their ways, we would all be working until we are on our death beds. Oh they are running out of money for social security such as pension? Why don’t you just reallocate the money that is being wasted somewhere else? Here in America, the government is whining about the money for social security running out yet the already bloated military spending is being increased every single year. I’m sure it’s the same case in France as well. It’s not about money, it’s about priorities.

France doesn't have a functioning military. Half the military money goes to wages and pensions. The rest of the money goes to maintaining enough equipment for their annual military parade.

In France medias are owned by billionaires and they noticed that when there is anyone against the far right (Marine Le Pen or previously her father) that person gets elected, so at every election they try to mâle her look not so bad so she gets to the 2nd turn and then her opposant gets elected. People didn't vote for Macron, they voted against Le Pen
