France prison break: Guards killed and attackers on the run

At least two French prison officers were killed and others wounded on Tuesday, May 14, in an attack on a prison van transporting an inmate who escaped. The ramming attack took place late morning at a road toll in Incarville in the Eure region of northern France. The inmate was being transported between the towns of Rouen and Evreux in Normandy. A police source said that the attack was carried out by a team of several individuals who arrived in two vehicles and themselves later fled.
One of them was also wounded, a police source said, but it was not immediately clear how many attackers there were in total. Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti confirmed the attack on the prison convoy and said on X he was immediately heading to a crisis cell at his ministry.

One thing we already know, eventhough that's not officially reported: the attack was (most likely) not done by white male Caucasians. If THAT was the case, the report would have mentioned that already. It is a known fact that government is shying away from reporting the descriptions if the asailants appear to be non-Caucasian. And in terms of likelyhood, two facts are deciding here. First, the inmate's background. After all: "tell me who you are and I'll tell you who your friends are". And second: it is a fact (supported by statistics) that certain demograhics are "overrepresented" in the prison population. This in itself is no guarantee but it does point out in which direction one should look first.
