Actually, the really bad ones that have been known to try to escape and shit usually don't get such privileges as working... supervised only by a single officer on an open field. It could also be that they were the ones convicted of very minor crimes, and have maybe a couple months, a year left to serve. Obviously, none of them would try to attack him or escape knowing very well that if they get caught they will have to serve a far longer sentence than they ever deserved in the first place. So. No the ones working in this video most definitely aren't bad people, but that doesn't mean all inmates are as good as them.

@@ihitgrandslams7961 I agree with you, to an extent. But no single act defines a person, no matter how bad that act was. Now, if we're talking about a serial killer, a serial rapist, a serial child molester or someone like that, then yeah, there's no redeeming them. The fact that they did it over and over again and never learned their lesson or tried to change their ways shows they should spend the rest of their lives in a supermax prison or get the needle, depending on what they did. My policy on the death penalty though is that if there's no loss of life involved in the crime, then the death penalty is not considered. That said, if we're talking about a single act, the person who did it is truly remorseful and wants to change their ways, I do believe those people can be redeemed. Sometimes they do change. Not all, or even most, of the time, mind you. It is possible, though. I'm living proof. I went to Juvie as a young teen for a crime I won't name here. Suffice it to say, it was bad, and leave it at that. I'm 34 now and haven't been in any sort of trouble since being released at 19. If I can change, so can others.

Great job fellas! I worked as a road deputy, but often had multiple contacts with inmates in jail. They are just the ones that got caught, so suggest looking back in your own history of "Good Luck" before casting any judgement. Most are good people, at times lost and will admit their faults. They are there just doing their time and wish to make the best of it. These guys did an awesome job!

I'd say a reduction in sentence is in order for these inmates that helped the officer. That should be a natural reaction by the judicial system. I know I am dreaming though and its not going to happen. To the courts that sentenced these inmates: If you are truly grateful for the inmates heroism, reduce their time.
@twistedmichigander49075 жыл бұрын
those on work detail are what are considered "short timers"- those with little time left on their sentence. By the time the authorized person can make that decision (reduced time), most will, probably, be back on the street. If it is possible, I do think reduced time and recognition for their actions are in order. There have been similar situations, and the inmates were rewarded with reduced sentences. Who knows what doors that type recognition could open for those individuals.
@precursorapollo6414 жыл бұрын
@hung well A sheriff can't reduce anyone's time lol. That's what a judge can only do. And no. They didn't.
@mannyredwetsach104 жыл бұрын
@@twistedmichigander4907 Sadly most likely none...jail doors are what open to those with a record. I saw a cousin of mine go through this. He committed a relatively minor offence by today's standard, Good hearted, smart guy, made one stupid choice, got caught unlike a lot of the people that cast judgment...who didn't get caught. Now he is forever branded, most likely stuck having to struggle to stay out of the system, working some crap job. Too bad he should have made better choices
