France's Champagne lifestyle

Champagne is one of the things France is famous for. And in France it's really affordable... you pay the same for a glass of Champagne as you would for a glass of beer.
Which got me thinking... what would happen if you drank Champagne for 30 days straight?
France is the one country where you can do this: have a glass of Champagne every day for a month.
It won't break the bank, it is probably the Frenchiest thing you can do... and it maybe even has some health benefits!
Here I show you what can happen if you make Champagne a daily habit.
For a start, you'd be in good company:. the Queen of England was known for drinking a glass of Champagne every day.
But scientists have also found that regular, moderate drinking of Champagne can boost your short-term memory. And it might even prevent the onset of dementia.
Added to the fact that a flute of Champagne packs way fewer calories than a glass of wine or of beer, and you might start thinking This Is A Good Thing.
Certainly if you're visiting France, a glass of bubbly while sitting in a café certainly makes you feel as French as you can get. It's a party for your palate!

Many years ago I was in Paris at a Fnac store watching jazz pianist Randy Weston perform when a young woman tap me on the shoulder, " Monsieur Champagne?" She served me Champagne in a glass. I felt very Parisian. When you say no to Champagne, you say no to life.

A month ago I completed 'Sober October'. It was very disappointing. Your idea of 30 Days of Champagne is a much more attractive idea. Loving your videos - keep up the good work

Well I wouldn't knock a sober month.... There are health benefits there too. But my video was just a bit of fun, with a distinctly French twist. Thanks for the compliment on my videos!

A glass a day is only a bottle a week... (I did want orange juice about a week into this though, but it certainly sharpened my awareness of good Champagne)

I've been here for 30 days and I have been following the same protocol...it is so much better than anything else. French people don't want to be greedy...that's the only reason that I can see that they drink anything else...

IT'S VITAMIN C! . . . . . Something that makes you giggle has to be good. I like the idea, and want to give it a try, but would need to find some half-sized bottles and do not recall seeing them in the local liquor store. Once a bottle is opened, it must be drunk and the one I drink is Veuve Cliquot Brut in the yellow label. I could easily buy two round-trip plane tickets to Paris for the cost of 30 bottles - so maybe I could come over there for a few weeks and find someone to share 15 bottles of Veuve Cliquot with me. I used to know a guy in Paris who delivered cases of champagne for Moet & Chandon. He would go to the warehouse and load his truck and tell the clerk he had, say, 20 cases when actually he had 21 or 22 cases. Along the way he would stop at his apartment to leave the cases he stole. He must have had 30 cases in his apartment. Ultimately, in all seriousness, - I guess having a glass of champagne every day for 30 days would be fun just to be able to say later that I had done it, but I seriously doubt I would do it again, because it would be like a chore, forcing myself on some days to have some when I may want a break. Keep giggling, Aida.

No I have not even looked. It would require a trip of 1.5 - 2 hours to a city with a wine merchant, because the small bottles are not found in the grocery stores here. . I live in a rural area on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia, where one can drive 10 minutes or more on the main road and not see another car. I wonder if, on this 30 -day adventure, whether you planned meals for which champagne was the wine? My cooking skills are minimal, but I like to go catch a couple of trouts (truites) and sauté filets with a thin coat of flour and pour a sauce of heavy cream and sliced almonds over it. I like a locally-made spice mix that is fantastic on fish and seafood here (here the local fish and seafood industry is king). This stuff is great, Aida. It has a peppery bite, but a very nice flavor that is so good you want to keep eating after you are full. Anyway, that's the kind of thing I would have with champagne. This reminds me of something you said about making cooking videos. My I suggest that, instead of making them as "cooking videos" per se, show yourself cooking things you enjoy cooking, but do so in a greater context of "Aida's lifestyle," showing a wider perspective than on just the dish you cook. After all, cooking something tasty is only part of the equation. You must set a certain atmosphere if friends are coming over, and a different atmosphere for a lover or dear friend and the whole experience needs to flow comfortably into the meal and then as the meal ends we see you being a good, gracious hostess with style - - - always with style - - - because that is how you are. Aida, I want you to make a note to yourself. In a few months return to look at my channel. This one is a new one for me and there may be some playlists I assemble that you like. This song will be there: Jacques Higelin - Champagne ! kzbin.info/www/bejne/roatk6Gla5lkaaM

Pa Lee feen all ( short A sound for Pa) ( I spent a lot of time researching these compounds during my life as a wine chemist) The detergent thing isn't true. The scalding hot water you will need to clean your glasses without soap will damage your crystal. I enjoyed the vvdeo.

I keep hearing differing views on it. The abrasive elements of dishwasher detergent, the hot water... Either way, no crystal in there. Thanks for the comment. My chemical knowledge stops at carbon dioxide gas bubbles in a tulip glass.
