France, Hungary, Spain, etc, none of these teams have faced the kind of defense that the USA team plays and in the US it's nothing new, it's just the way they play in the states, they go quick, they go hard. Until you face it you have no ideal what that pace or the pressure is like. France scored 40 pts, Hungary 39 pts, Spain 31 pts. Rupert dominated Australia the day before and in this game she scored 0 was made a non factor and dominated by a girl going into her junior year of high school this September.

They have trials. Start out with approx. 150 players. In all honesty the US could probably send about 6-7 teams of different players that would be almost as dominant. Haley Jones, Aaliyah Boston and Jordan Horston are the top 3 players in the 2019 class. Paige Bueckers is the top player in the 2020 class. Azzi Fudd is the top ranked player in the 2021 class. All of them are going to be playing at top NCAA schools.

Some players did not make the age cut, hence they were not picked for this category. The age requirement by FIBA is kinda complicated. There’s that point that the players need to be 16 or turning 17 or just turned 17 before the tournament proper. Any girls who does not meet that requirement alone, is cut already in the possible line up. Some of the girls were put in the other age categories and once again they will undergo the same rigorous selection process!
