I thought Wales stuck at it, but what they were sticking to was very limited, particularly with ball in hand and France didn't even bother to defend with any aggression. I feel for Williams, Adams and Morgan and any fans that made the trip.

The young French players will take more and more power very soon. The french coach used tonight Auradou, Jegou, Bielle-Biarrey, Attissobdge, Gailleton and Le Garrec. They relased some guys like Depoortere, Nouchi or Gazzoti. This guys are all between 20 and 22 years old. This is pretty satisfying and we can do better with the come back of Flament, Barre and Penaud next week in Twickenham.

As a Welsh fan I was honestly surprisingly encouraged by this game. It’s the first time in a couple of years where I’ve felt like there’s an idea that we’re building towards. Lots to work out! But that’s a matter of time and getting experience. I think the shoreline was fair. One thing I was frustrated by was the refereeing. I love the French as well but it felt like they got more of the 50/50 calls, especially with forward passes. I get the sport wants to be more expedient but it was salt in the wound. I also thing Adams is a nuisance but i thought he definitely got hit high. The lack of review was frustrating for me. Encouraged by the building, no contest of the result, still frustration with the lack of review in the name of expediency.
@petejohnball1564

Agree 100% with your comment on the referee. He must have only one eye. He wasn't blowing up passes that went forward and he was blowing balls that went back, as forward. Reminded me of Super 8 games I watched in Newlands refereed by one eyed Kiwis, several years ago.

Felt bad for Tomos Williams looking for someone to pass to in that first half. Everyone was "not me, not me, not me". Wales find it so hard to get the ball back too, reminds me of Scotland in the noughties. Even the French tv director couldn't get Ntamack off that one.

I can’t say I love Nick Tompkins but I appreciate the effort he puts in. In this Welsh side I feel like losing energy would be the easiest thing but every game he gives the energy he’d bring to his first cap. Do I think he’s the best, no. Do it think hes trying to bring a new dynamic and do something better than running a straight line, yes. In an ideal world he wouldn’t be in my team, in this world I’d rather have him than not.

That was a trouncing if I ever saw one and France hardly got out of 3rd gear. I feel sorry for Welsh fans right now. For a country where rugby is a religion they are going through very dark times indeed. The 6N and world rugby in general needs a strong Welsh team but I can't see them turning it around anytime soon which is sad to see. Maybe they can get something against Italy next week but I doubt it. This defeat won't have done their confidence any good at all. As for France...well that was a statement of intent and again as usual Dupont was incredible even though his pass for the 3rd try looked very forward to me. Ntamack's red card was very careless and a big blow for France....they'll miss him for the big game against England next week.

So I felt sorry for Welsh supporters, not let down by there players but the W. R. U. Yes they have a lot to answer, how they f****d up big time. As a wallabies fan ik how bad big defeats can be (ahem *argentina test 2 last year) but I am really struggling to see how wales can pull themselves out of the depths after this one. It’s as if everything named welsh rugby has become equally awful. Makes me genuinely sad since I’ve always loved the Welsh squad. Definitely the first step is the coaching setup just to get the players a bit of fresh air, but then the WRU must have a proper assault on the problems internally like talent pools, corruption, abusive WRU behaviour the lot.

For Wales it is the passing of a very good (physically and technically) generation of players, to a new generation that do not have the same attributes, so a new style of play and tactics need to be build; how were the U20 results these last 5 years? The development of young players need to be adressed.

This game was pretty much indicative if we're us Welsh boys are at. Players have heart but are let down by the system around them. This game all but proved that Gatland and Rob Howley shouldn't be near an international rugby team. Something funny to me is that Adam Jones has been apart of the Wales set up for probably a week or two and managed to make our scrum look way more secure than it's looked over the past 2 years. You then contrast that with Howley who somehow manged to make our already pitiful attack look worse.

It just feels existentially bad for Wales. Normally every team goes in cycles, but with all the off-field stuff we've had as well - bankrupt regions, players threatening strike action, abusive behaviour in the WRU, in addition to their record losing run on the pitch - it is hard to see any possible route to recovery.

Cascading Welsh pens really set them back, plus so many warnings that when they didn't have the ball they looked scared to get too involved, capitulated meters and a handful of turnovers wasn't enough, given France weren't even at full speed I can't imagine what the score could have been, will be interesting to see France against a high ball and physically overwhelming side.

If a player passes to another player on his team and the latter is in front of him when receiving the ball, the pass is called "forward", therefore there is a foul. The receiving player must position behind the player carrying the ball. Not in that case, Dupont is well in front of Attissogbe when the latter receives the ball. Take a good look at the filmed view from above

Going in, i was expecting wales to just keep hanging high balls, because they have two really good aerial players in L Williams and adams. Instead, they seemed to be afraid to give up possession unless they were actively losing grand with ball in hand (which happened a fair bit). I think Wales tried to attack like Ireland with the attack set deeper and shorter passes expecting France to blitz hard but France Had a bit of a hybrid Defence with plenty of push and Wales didn't bother to adapt. They need to learn to play closer to the ruck and pop the pass inside to hit the pillars. It's basic stuff, earn the right to go wide. I do think these young Welsh players are going to be good players with a bit of experience but Welsh rugby needs new ideas at the top. I would go for Felix Jones as I think he's the modern young coach Wales are crying out for right now

It was raining, and they didn't really need it, so I believe they wanted to avoig getting penalties. Having a full defensive line, sometimes counter-rucking was enough giving the slow pace of passing by the Welsh halfs. Not the thing to do against Ireland, obviously.

That Welsh team was picked to defend. Unfortunately there was one person missing, Shaun Edwards. Wales do not have a decent 10 so far. If they do not find one soon then it is going to get painful. I know Anscombe is getting on a bit but he is better than the current alternatives, they are not ready. No faulting the effort from Wales As for France a 75/80% side and you nil your opposition. The red card could be significant but the strength in depth France has is awesome. DuPont was not on it tonight.

Just have to realise that from grassroots rugby, it's affected wales. And the sport wasnt as popular as before when i was growing up there.. football has really taken over now. I remember my school had a rugby team but not a football.. so wales arent producing the top level players it used too.. and being such a small nation, its hard.. cant run with the excuse its a young team and builing.. that has been the same excuse the last few years now.. and the under 20's arent doing alot better.. just really sad to watch, but on a positive i am half irish and moved back to Ireland, so 😂 can enjoy some wins lol

No real excuses France are so good at the moment suspect 2 in world - there are a few points to raise though (nothing that would have changed the ultimate result but gives me a little hope as the score doesn't reflect the game. First lets acknowledge losing wainwright our best ball carrier and not having a good solid replacement 8 - hurt from the start - compounded by gats choice of centres - both smaller players with no impact (and Watkin isn't good enough at all). So it was always going to make it hard for us to score - made even tougher when we lost Watkins because then we were left with an even smaller centre. So all in all out game plan went out the window very early on. left with no ball carriers it was always going to be hard to score. Next lets address the score - 2nd try came from a very very clear forward pass in midfield (nothing wrong with the try but they should never have been up there to score it) , third one most clear forward pass i think I have ever seen from dupont. third was a maul try and the front 3 disconnected front he maul and trucked the defenders out of the way - last i heard that was not allowed. Ill add but I didn't personally notice people are saying one of the tries they actually dropped whilst touching down. That's a lot of points that should not have been on the board and it does tell a story where the refs head was. which leads me to point out France were allowed to do anything , a little blocking, crawling through rucks? hands on ball while off feet in rucks etc....Wales attempt legal jackals and told to leave it - so we kinda lost the ref somehow - Ill even point out Adams being done for dissent when telling the ref he's been hit in the face during the tackle with a split nose and blood pumping out (and the replay shows him literally getting a hand to the nose the definition of a high tackle - but Wales get marched - hmmm - makes the day harder still. so with the obvious bitching out of the way, France were very good especially in defence, so I think even if the above weren't true it would have still been a clear drubbing, and I only point it out as I say ,because the score isn't entirely a fair reflection. I do think Wales were generally a bit stronger - the scrum did well against a brutal French scrum which bodes well, I thought we actually defended well in large parts, just that dupont magic getting past us, or some brutal muscle. so its not all bad and I thing we can fix some things quickly - so Scrum good, leave that alone of course we may need to replace Wainwright - maybe toby or perhaps morse or morris will finally get a call. I would also replace the centres and put in eddie james and or Roberts (maybe call up Max) as we need a big lad in there, I also though Josh was off his game so for me murry starts instead of him and have hathaway on bench. that will give us more punch again in the backs. After watching Scoland v italy honestly i didn't think either side were great - I think we have a solid chance vs Italy and wouldn't be surprised if its close with Scotland

They might win in Rome as the Italians still have an issue with being favourites. But having said that, if I would have to put together a combined XV I would select Jac Morgan, Tomos Williams and then 13 Italians. That's just an incredibly bad situation. 12 years ago the Lions started 10 Welshman in the last Test. Now they probably have 1 in the whole squad (again Jac Morgan).

Correct me if I'm wrong but this Wales Team (2023 - ????) might unfortunately be the weakest team we've had in the Six Nations era ?! I don't remember the Scotland Team from the 2000's or the Italy Team (2015-2021)/French Team (2012-2019) from the 2010's being this outplayed in defeat. As a French fan, even if we won I felt bad for them because they were clearly trying their hardest :/ I hope for them they don't get another "Whitewash" Wooden Spoon this year but it will look really likely if they go 0-14 vs. Italy next week...

Wales are sorely missing qualitiy players, and good domestic rugby. Aka The WRU have not, and did not have a succession plan or player development for a good few years. Changing the coach will make no difference. You need world class players to develop, and you do not have them. I see the rugby scouts heading for Patagonia soon as a quick fix. It is going to be a long hard climb back up to be competitive again.
