I love watching your videos, learned a lot so far about airbag . I would like to bag a 1959 Chevy Apache with a 5 x 2 tube frame with a Camaro stub. Do you think I would just follow your procedure on cupping my lower control arms I don’t see much on anybody bagging with a Camaro stub. Any guidelines on this I would sure appreciate thank you.

Hi simple c10, i have a 70 c10, have 2600 air bags, im thinking to cup my lower control arms, but need to make sure it will make difference between have it cupped or not, because if i want to drive it low it gets rought driving , have 2 1/2” drop spindles too, if i cup it, will improve suspencion softness or is the same? Cupping your lowers allow the bag to mount to the bottom of the a air allowing you to have better pressure at low heights. It’s a must.

You mentioned you used 2.5" drop spindles. Would 3" drop spindles help you get closer to laying frame?

Great question. The answer is No. Because my control arms hit the ground before the frame does. The setup I run will get you as low as you can go without sectioning the crossmember, zing the frame, or getting an aftermarket drop member.

I believe the lower cup work with 63-72 and squares since it’s a universal cup. I’m not sure about the upper bracket. I’ll check with Walter at Velaworks.

What is the biggest tire these will lay out with? I want to run a 265 40 22. I believe the tire you use is a 30 series?

I wouldn’t run anything bigger than a 255/30/22 on the front. You could run a 265 on the back but clearance is a big factor on anything bigger.

Go back and watch my bagging on a budget and air ride 101 videos. This will help explain that this setup doesn’t “lay frame”. It gets you as low as you can go on your stock parts. To lay frame you would need to have a drop member, Z the frame, or section the crossmember.

Will the cpp lower control arms get me as low as cupping stock lower control arms?

Yes they will but you have to cut off the bumpstop bracket. I have a video on how I did it. Not hard. If I could do it all over again I would get the ridetech strong arms instead of fabbing the cpp.
