I’ve got to say, huge congratulations on landing this interview. The video might only have 23k views, but it’s a real shame that today’s generation doesn’t fully appreciate the cultural giant that is Francis Ford Coppola. Major props to you for pulling off such an epic interview. As for Megalopolis, I can already tell it’s a film that might be criticized for being pretentious in the short term, but in the long run, it’s bound to become culturally relevant and stand the test of time.

My God, I don’t care if reviews are mixed, or what any of my friends say, I’m watching this movie. Such a great discussion. Ryan & Francis are both gifts to this world. “The hardest person to forgive is yourself.” All the books referenced. All the history. I need to rewatch this with my yellow legal pad and take notes. Wonderful, beautiful stuff. Truly.

This is why TV died and KZbin/podcasting has thrived. Can put out adult, intelligent conversations for people who want to learn and keep learning
@curiositytax93604 ай бұрын
Or maybe people can’t put their phones down long enough to watch tv? Most podcasts/KZbin are background noise. You don’t really have to engage with it visually. You at least have to watch most tv programmes, otherwise you aren’t getting all the information, although there are lots of tv programmes that could be considered background noise too.

@@curiositytax9360 I’m more specifically talking about being able to discuss topics like this on platforms where it isn’t just about providing “entertainment” and forced, rehearsed comedy… look at the Dick Cavette show compared to talk shows now… that was more the aim of my comment

This is hands down the best interview/conversation I have ever seen. I had to keep pausing to take note of the books recommended. I think the movie is incredible. I saw it yesterday and cannot get it out of my mind. Like the first time I saw Apocalypse Now, I was mesmerized, dazed and went on to watch it multiple times. Will definitely be returning to the cinema to see Megalopolis again. The master has brought back cinema as art.

…I can sense your enthusiasm for Apocalypse Now. I was fortunate enough to see the San Francisco opening of it, I believe at the North Point Theater (god, is that right? On Bay St North Beach) when prior to having the credits added to the print, they passed out printed four color pamphlets containing the photography and text. Just a note…Francis has always operated from the parallax.

I love his mythos, ethos, and kairos of the ideas behind #Megalopolis and Coppola's genius body of work. I also often call #SouthFlorida one of the nations & world's best megalopolis's. Martin Luther's impact on the future of the printing press is still one of the most relevant and timeless and influential moments in History. "Only the winners write the history" Lawrence's famous quote "Nothing is written" is a precise and parsimonious way to say I don't care what the reality is- I create my own reality and a reality for the benefit of the most. George Orwell often repeats the mantra that 2 + 2 = 5 to show that if you repeat something enough people begin to accept it as the truth
