But for me, when you factor in the difference in quality of gaming, and add in that this - for me at least - becomes my primary device for anything internet based (which does help absorb some of the cost), then it is OVERWHELMINGLY worth the money. But yeah, you do kinda need to have the money in the first place to afford it.

That´s why the consoles became so strong...i was a "pc - only" guy...and then life comes and you cant tell wife or kids that you bought a 1500€ pc plus a 600€ monitor and bought some 40€ games but you wont make the year vacations or buy that "iphone" or "tablet" to the kid....you just give 400€ for a console and you´re good for some years and everyone is happy

Yeah I'm very glad they didn't go through with it. Sadly, I've gotten used to the ads myself though 2/3rds are usually xbox games or games with a big discount if you have xbox gold including a handful of free with xbox live games. The xbox 360 indie market compared to the options on the xbox one is like comparing the PS3 game library with the PS2, there really is no comparison and unless they inject a ton of their own resources into it the indie market on the xbox one will be slow growing and minuscule. It is nice the PS4 doesn't have ads cluttering it's screen as well.
