Can this be proven from the Bible?

Roxanne Francis - Thanks for the comment. Where does it say in the Bible that the Bible is the only source of doctrine? 1 Tim 3:15 says the Church is the Pillar and the foundation of truth. So the Bible points to the Church and not to itself as the ultimate authority. The "Bible only" mentality is a human tradition that started in 1517. Also, Jesus promised, "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever - the Spirit of truth." John 14 :16-17. So if you say the Church is not the authoritative teacher of the meaning of scripture then you are simply calling Jesus a liar, since the Spirit of Truth must have left the Church for over a thousand years!!. I don't mean to pile onto Martin Luther but the point is that you may find your faith increasing if you take a step away from his divisive teaching and begin to trust in Christ's Church as Jesus wants us to do.
