I can tell Mary's trying to do something different from what she usually plays. Its different but its not her at her best. She's creating atmosphere, mood, but the music is just that if you know what I mean.

I'm sorry, but Mary Halvorsen is just unlistenable as a guitarist. I've tried- I've really tried- to hear the brilliance that her fans are forever attributing to her and the undeniable conclusion I've reached is- they're just wrong. She's a noise dabbler- and a pretty boring one at that. I've seen her live, I've listened to lots of her recordings and youtube videos and I just cannot stand the way she plays. I'm sure there's gonna be some "rich feedback" on this comment; I really want to dig what she does because, frankly, she's related to one of my daughter's best friends and I am a jazz guitar lover- particularly the younger, more modern players. But what she does is completely lost on me. Anyone out there agree? If you're watching this video, probably not...

I couldn't agree more champ. It's unfathomably boring, and I've been around and played "free" music. It requires a certain kind of zealotry and, I can only surmise, a really boring person. If you want to clear a gathering fast, play this.

You need ear cleaning course, I am listening to this guitarist for the first time, very melodic player. I can think of hundreds of guitar players that are are more experimental...
