I went out to a natural lake I fish a lot last week and blanked, not a even a bite - but I saw Kingfishers, Buzzards, Green and Great-spotted Woodpeckers, Raven, Great-white Egret and Grey Heron. Maybe if I'd spent more time watching the float I might've caught something! 😂

nice video mark lovely river mr crabtree style ,no wind and a cracking fish barbus like a giant golden gudgeon on steroids ,,great stuff yes there is a difference between fishing / angling... and,,,, fish ...catching just getting them in casting and rushing to get another one is not good.. ,i use a centre pin on rivers with a stick float it just feels right ,running through a glide with a bit of pace ,and you have control of the speed,not the river,....one tip mark the great late billy lane many years ago told me this.. his advice was not to use the smallest lightest float but one that is easy to cast and bullies the river not the other way around and it works. too,,.well until your next adventure down by the waters edge tight lines mark,,
@francolinobasco Жыл бұрын
Thanks Stephen, to be fair the breeze did pick up later on and cloud a little but it was a lovely evening! Well said regarding fishing and catching, every moment should be fully tasted and enjoyed,no rushing. Very good point about the float and bullying the river and flow.

To see and hear the wildlife makes fishing that bit more special 👍👍👍 What overcoat were you wearing there Mark,it looks just the job for cold and damp weather. I've yet to find the perfect fishing coat .
@markerd5378 Жыл бұрын
Thanks nick and I agree with you. The coat is a ridge line monsoon smock, material similar to goretex. Very good and nicely designed with a longer back end and zip to adjust the waist gusset. I find the problem with a centre pin is if you get a good sized fish on you need both hands on the rod and reel which makes it hard to get the landing net into operation.
@markerd5378 Жыл бұрын
Thumb pressure is generally enough but it helps to have the right size pin to match your hand size, I don't have particularly large hands unfortunately, I was probably a porcelain doll in a previous life 😂

@@markerd5378 Very nice video. My comment related to accidently catching a 21lb carp on a local river during a chubbing session.
@markerd5378 Жыл бұрын
@@stewarttyler6445 cheers Stewart! I've had some nice carp on the pin using thumb control and barbel over 15, but the drum I find has to match your hand size, some pins aren't suited to smaller hands and some hands aren't right for smaller pins. The reel in this video doesn't fully match my smaller fingers/thumbs but it's workable and its got the strongest check I've seen, certainly would wake the dead lol. Glad you enjoyed the video too mate, I always love making them for you guys.

Mark I am thinking of getting the same electric bike you have from AliExpress. I was wondering how you have found it on your trips. I mainly fish rivers in my area (middle and upper Severn, the Teme, the Lugg etc and I think the electric bike would be a big help as I can't walk very far owing to a health issue. Any comment would be much appreciated. Love the videos by the way.
