You join me for my first trip of the season on the 17th of June as I head out in search of brassy chub, using the link leger and tiny Advanta Rvs river ambush rod.
Follow me on instagram! / fishing_for_memories
Rod used: Angling direct Advanta discovery RVS Ambush rod 5 foot in length 1.5lb test curve
www.anglingdir...
Landing net head used: Advanta discovery RVS folding specimen net.
www.anglingdir...
Landing net handle: Gunki pocket landing net pole
www.anglingdir...
All the above tackle used is purchased with my own funds and honest opinions always given. I am not sponsored by a tackle company to be a yes man, so please believe me when I say the above products seem to be very good.

Mark. What a great start to your river season! Several mint looking Chub, well done and another most enjoyable video. I was watching carefully and I could not see many of the bites so there is obviously more to it than just watching the rod tip. As many others have commented, you are looking very well - the new bicycle is obviously doing you a power of good, keep it up. My season so far on the Warks Avon has been a struggle with just five barbel from five outings. Hope you have an enjoyable and successful season Mark.

another great day on the river in the british country side ,and on a summer river,,, birds singing this green and pleasant land well they would if they knew the words lol.. ,and some good fishing ,bread is deadly for chub its strange sometimes they wont touch worms or meat but will go for bread,,well cracking day out you had mark,you look really well,,and i like the idea of using small rods for those small snaggy swims,,and you have proven how well they work in tight spots with some smashing chub,it may be worth getting a quiver so two rods set up ,one ledger and one float or a short float rod like the one you used and a longer trotter an switch ,you can get quivers on line for 20 to 30 pounds and can ride with them over your shoulder,well mark another smashing video and am looking forward to your next adventure on the bank,,tight lines,

Mark, My son has recommended your channel to me and you have a new subscriber. Really enjoyed your video and will be catching up,on your back catalogue.The chub fishing took me back a while to a time when I was able to scramble up and down banks and fish the sort of inaccessible swims you seem to enjoy.I caught plenty of fish but nothing like the quality of fish you are catching.Been put off returning as been told Otters have taken all the fish,but I wonder? Your neat compact choice of tackle got me thinking to as I often struggled with a longer rod and net etc. Keep up the good work and look forward to working my way through your very entertaining films Tight lines Stuart

Fantastic video as Always Mark...you are my favourite Angler by far to watch always a pleasure watching your videos...may I ask regarding your Gunki handle does it have a separate piece at the end connecting to your net? And will the bigger version of this net be big enough for barbel?
@francolinobasco
@francolinobasco 4 жыл бұрын
Hello there mate and thank you for your very kind words. Yes the pole has a thread attachment and I generally use a 30 inch net for my barbel. I have since stood on the net pole and broken it clumsy or what :(. I can recommend as a replacement the Korum oppurtunist landing net pole it is actually better and not so waggy and £25 a lot cheaper.

Mark Erdwin oooh no really annoying when we bust stuff ...I did something similar travelling light for barbel and chub last week creeping down steep banking one wrong foot and 8-10 feet later looking like I’m trying to do a hand stand and breakdancing land in heap rucksack coming over top of me head...stand up gingerly pick up my rod and then realised end of my spreader block had sheared off..hadn’t even wet me line yet...man it was a long walk back...Limping of course 🤣🤣🤣🤣...I was going to get a New Net is the 30 inch Advanta worth a try?

We never saw any of the meat! Think you snaffled it behind a Bush unless Stanley the stoats did off with it, hell you love those chub, don't ya?. I'm more of a trout man, but those chub are a very handsome fish, not like the rest of the coarse fish. Thank you realy enjoyed the fishing

Hi Mark, great to watch videos, I like your approach to tackle, sadly I cannot seem to find any of the kit (other than net) al sold out! You mention a poncho at the start but did not need it, what do you use? Can you post a link? Thumbs up on the bike front! Cheers
@francolinobasco
@francolinobasco 4 жыл бұрын
How typical is that Trev! I would substitute the Gunki pole and instead purchased the Korum oppurtunist, as it is a lot cheaper and a better landing net pole in my opinion.

Great vid as always Mark. One question, in fast shallow water this season I've had chub literally under my rod tip by steadily feeding with bread for 15 minutes or so and you always get a confident bite. How much/many freebies do you put in first?
@francolinobasco
@francolinobasco 3 жыл бұрын
Hello there David an interesting question with an open ended answer. By that I mean it varies throughout a trip, so some swims will see literally only my single hookbait where I'm literally casting and aiming for a bite without any free offerings and this approach is mixed with dropping some liquidised bread in other swims where the bites take time to develop. I find on shallow sections of river be that summer or winter when rivers are low and clear that a single hook bait can get a faster reaction than perhaps spooking fish with multiple free offerings, although it is a very changeable situation and one you have to gauge throughout a trip.

Hi Mark, just watched your latest video(165) do you ever get pestered by dace, minnows etc.also do you ever catch any small chub(under 1lb) as the number of 4lb chub I catch in a year I could count on one hand despite fishing the Severn and the Wye.

Have you ever tried 'Beetroot' Mark? Sounds crazy I know, i watched a video with a guy pole fishing the margins for Carp. My employee John from work watched it, took Beetroot down to his local and tried it.. 11 Carp in a 2hr session, 9 of them took the Beetroot! Knowing Chub, i bet they would snuffle down some Beetroot
