Thanks for visiting and leaving such a kind comment. The story I tell about slack key includes plenty of camp fire - I picture the Hawaiian cowboys out working from sunup to sundown then bringing out the slack key guitar after the evening meal. I'm no camper, I must admit, but we've had a couple of pretty good jams at beach parties, close enough. Fran

Ledward Kaapana is one of Hawaii's musical treasures. His music should be documented and kept for all of posterity.
@franguidry2 жыл бұрын
I do think that the most important thing about this KZbin channel is capturing as much of Ledward's playing as I can. There are lots of other excellent resources, have you seen the PBS Hawaii Na Mele series? There's a wonderful show with Led and his sisters. Fran
@beatricesantiago40612 жыл бұрын
@@franguidry I watch everything that's "Ledward Kaapana". He has the most educated fingers I ever did see. It just flies all over those strings and I can't even keep up with how he knows where to put his fingers next. It just amazes me. And, just the other day, I caught a rarity with Nedward and Ledward playing together and having fun. This is the one where they play with their elbows on the base strings of the guitar. Just amazing. I looked for more of them playing together to no avail. I also made sure that I have all that I could find of Ledward stored on my computer. And if in the future I will need a new computer, I'm going to make sure that the computer expert will save all of Ledward to my new computer. I'm 89 and really, really enjoy and can't believe what a wonderful, wonderful slack key virtuoso he is. Many thanks to you and Ledward. Aloha!

@@franguidry hyperbolic, maybe. But I've always loathed the Dallas Cowboys. I had the TV sound off and that relentless scherzo (?) from the Bruckner 5th on. When Montana hit Clark in the back of the end zone I thought I'd hit the number and the kosmos was back in synch. It was a long time ago but I remember.
