Dean Martin fustigates reporters and gets some laughs at press function in the Huntington Ballroom at The Colonnade Hotel in Boston before a Frank and Dean concert fundraiser for Reagan on November 02, 1979.
Nancy had a cute laugh.

@2packs4sure
@2packs4sure 4 жыл бұрын
@Jules Bravo He wasn't an alcoholic or even a big boozer,, his big thing was being in bed early and at the golf course at the crack of dawn and he did that for many many years. Dean was one of those guys who's resting face looked a little tipsy and he played it for all it was worth. NOW,,, where I think the alcoholic stuff really started was that somewhere around 1975 or so things changed and by 1977 Dean almost ALWAYS sounded slurry and impaired and weird,,, I believe somewhere around this time he got hooked on painkillers. He WASN'T drunk but he was often smashed on pills,,, " MY OPINION" .. It's somewhat documented that in the early 70's he hurt his back and was suffering a great deal from it and I think that lead to the abuse of painkillers as it often does and anyone who's lived with serious back pain AS I HAVE can totally relate..
@2packs4sure
@2packs4sure 4 жыл бұрын
@Jules Bravo Yeah,,, I read all those bios. though I've never heard the being carried off of a golf course story.. The Percodan thing is true as far as we know,, his valet Mack Gray had them for migraines and Dean used them occasionally. You're definitely right that we'll never know 100% of how much Dean drank or anything else about Dean's private personal habits and as interesting as it is ultimately it's none of our business..
@2packs4sure
@2packs4sure 4 жыл бұрын
@Jules Bravo The man nobody knew is probably a little over the top,,, Dean was basically a simple guy who wanted to make a good living singing, play some golf, and be left the hell alone when he wanted to zone out. Except for the singing and golf I can totally relate !! :)

He always looked kind of bleary eyed and had a way of talking that always sounded a little slurred. That's how the whole drunky Dean thing got started after he split with Jerry and he just rolled with it and it just made him that much richer.

@@moonlanding-69 Bullshit u obviously have NO clue. Frank spilled more than Dean drank. Did Dean drink? Yes! But it was greatly exaggerated. He was a family man.. After shows frank insisted he go out and he would have a drink or 2. But he would b the 1 one home. He was a social drinker. Matter of fact on stage it was apple juice almost ALWAYS. Again he had nothing against drinking but he was NOT a drunk.. The only time he ever drank more was when his son died..

Frank was a lifelong democrat who switched parties after Bobby Kennedy screwed over Frank's friends who helped win the election for Jack. It also didn't help that Jack cancelled his plans to stay with Frank, at the last minute during his inauguration....at the behest of his dad who thought Frank was a mobster. As for Dean, he was a Republican his whole adult life who had no use for the Kennedys.

***** What was Reagan up to that would have stopped them? Reagan N E V E R concealed in any way his beliefs, plans, and philosophy and what he wanted to do. I dare you to prove otherwise. ***** Alot of straw men there. Who didn't help create the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden? The deficit, if Reagan had got EXACTLY what he wanted .........He made compromises with the you know whos........ Had to rebuild the Military............... Something our next president Will Be Forced To Do ! Iran Contra, you're right, Reagan made that happen. His hand was forced by the Democrats (The Boland Amendment ) but, yes, he did it. The only major blemish on Reagan. Unemployment exploded on his watch..... WHAT? UGH.... It would take hours......... He raised taxes seven out of his eight years in office? Bull, but if you're the leftist you sound like, and you believe it, then you should love him for that. If you said taxes were raised seven out of his eight years in office it may be technically true ( I Don't Know) but it wasn't because Reagan raised them. He Had "HELP" from the usual suspects. Taxes get raised in so many ways with or without the blessing of a president. It's just a vague talking point. If you wouldn't mind, i'd like for you to tell me what you think Obama is "up to" and maybe post a list or synopsis of his Top successes thus far. Maybe something like a Top Ten list.
@stevecochrane3491

+2packs4sure Actually when Reagan took office, taxes were at 70% for in come over $40,000 a year and somewhere between 30% and 40% under $40,000 a year. When he left office in 1989, the rates were 24% for top earners and 14% for low earners. When Democrats say that Reagan raised taxes, what they are referring to is an incident that occurred in 1982 after Reagan signed the Kemp Roth tax bill which was set to take effect in 1983. According to the bill the top rate was suppose to be lowered from 70% to 30%. But because Democrat speaker of the house Tip Oneal threatened to shut down the government unless the amount of the cut was raised to 50% instead of 30% Reagan caved in. It was not a tax increase but a readjustment of a tax that was yet to take effect. In 1986 Reagan signed another bill which lowered it to 24%. But in 1990 George HW Bush raised it to 35% and in 1993 Clinton raised it to 39%.

He wasn't drunk but he'd probably popped a Percodan or the like that morning. I know this will tick of some people and there are few bigger Dino fans than me,,, BUT,,,, Dean really didn't sing well (in my opinion) after 1975. That effortless vibrato began fading away starting in 75' - 76' and he was about half the singer he was for almost 30 solid years before. It was amazing considering how much he smoked that the voice was so amazing from 45' - 73'...... He was still smmoooth after 76', but all the little things that made him a GREAT singer were gone. You watch Dean singing White Christmas on his 77' ( I THINK ) Xmas special and you'll see. He is working very hard for the little vibrato he produces. It's still Dean but it just ain't the same. It's not great. Strangely his voice remained about the same from 77' - 87' except that at the end he got more hoarse.

+2packs4sure you're right, except he never really drank nor smoked. when he did have a cigarette, he blew out almost 75% of the smoke or he just held it as a prop or gag. The "whisky" he always drunk on stage was almost always apple juice. Also, good job burning that dude😂😂

And Barbara Sinatra looked totally uncomfortable standing there as if she was expecting Frank to go off on somebody at any moment, she probably was aware he was in a bad mood.

Frank was a Democrat most of his life but like he said he didn't blindly pick candidates because of party. Back in the 40s he campaigned for FDR and of course JFK in the 60s. Dean was pretty much apolitical although I know he supported Reagan and Nixon.

You're right. Basically Reagan was confident that the American people could make things better if the government got the hell out of their way. Reagan was proven right in the 80's and Obama is proving Reagan right again today. In fact Obama is proving Reagan so right that we might never fully recover.
