I originally started to draw Red Sonja but decided to change her to Magik, flaming sword wielding demon hunter from the X-Men.

It depends on comics :) She appeared in several Uncanny X-Men issues when younger, in New Mutants and certainly other ones ;p I knew her especially because she's the sister of Colossus and the best friend of Kitty Pryde :) But she died in 80's and certainly resurrected later, but she was still dead in 1997 (I'm currently reading 1997's X-Men volumes) :(
