this ridiculous armbreak style caused MMTs elbow to calfify beyond repair. his problem was always his weak wrist, but he could circumvent the issues by pronating from the outside position later on
@Pepe-pq3om10 ай бұрын
Thing is at this point and for a long time he barely or didn't train his hand at all. When he got to the kingsmove stage he obviously was training his hand, by thnn his wrist movement and range of motion was already severely damaged, to a point he couldn't even try to force a hook, so we never got to see him at his full potential unfortunately.

Judging by the fact that Todd didn't use his elbow lock (which he didn't have yet) this must have been before 2014, and his young look would make it either early or mid 2000's. Todd had extremely strong bicep and rotator cuff and few people could beat him. Lamparelli winning just shows how good he was, even more than a decade ago. Good thing he stayed in sport and stayed natural!
@humanbean36 ай бұрын
u must not know much about arm wrestling because he was using a different kind of bone lock here. he is in full arm break position "testing his frame", and he's doing it so much that it's bent backwards more than most ppl's arms can even go......it's a fighter's spirit for sure but arm wrestling in this arm break position for so many matches is no doubt what messed up his arm
@michahalczuk90716 ай бұрын
@@humanbean3in that position you mostly use rotator cuff and pectoral. This is far from bone lock, it's just ugly. Also I've been into armwrestling for +15 years so lol.
@humanbean36 ай бұрын
@@michahalczuk9071 you'll notice michael in all of his matches from back then lets his arm go behind him in this arm break position. it almost looks like he's going to walk off into the crowd while leaving his arm behind sometimes! he'll be looking right into the crowd and his arm will be bent bank, pivoting at the elbow joint. It's the classic arm break position you warn all new people of. Its not exactly bone lock you're right, its the elbow joint were the radius meets the humorous taking a lot of the force. when he transitions into going for pinning move from this position yes i agree though.
@michahalczuk90716 ай бұрын
@@humanbean3 it's way more torque than any normal person would be able to sustain, but most long time armwrestlers have enough joint strength not to break their arms while doing it. Although doing this from start leads to elbow calcification which leads to not being able to straighten your arms. Todd, Larratt and Cadorette have this issue.
@humanbean36 ай бұрын
@@michahalczuk9071 i agree. cadorette can thrive in this position as well

@BlakeGibbons10 ай бұрын
Absolutely just pure grit from Mike lol dude is a psycho. It's no wonder why his elbow is in the shape that it is. That's just pure determination and zero willingness to lose. That's what Mike was always known for until the match with Devon where he just conceded consistently... I actually hope to see his arm hold up after all that he's worked through for the last like 6 months or whatever since his surgery. I'm very interested to see who he pulls for his first comeback match.

Michael Todd.... What a guy. Offensively and defensively used the same musles to generate force = Tricep, pecs & supraspinatus for side pressure/drive and humeral torsion from elbow flexors (angled to look like he's exclusively always pressing... Ie Shoulder exactly inline above elbow) for defence.. This gave him great continuity of force at this point of his career, no need to transition. Only had to commit to a drive when attacking.... Its exactly how not to Armwrestle unless you're Michael Todd.

Michael Todd, love him or hate him, has to be one of the best defensive armwrestlers of all time. That arm break style was rough to watch and dangerous to perform, but effective. It looked like Frank was about to tear his arm off every round. Now his king's move is even more controversial but less dangerous to perform, and just as, if not more, effective than his old arm break style. I'd say him Jerry Cadorette got the most effective and successful defensive styles of all time
