This song is 11/10 it's possibly the best song I've ever heard in my life, and I'm yet to experience it in Spain in summertime

I will never forget the first time I heard this song and the beat switched up. Just sitting in my room in the summer slack jawed.

Pyramid reference was a metaphor for the Luxor in Vegas (hotel shaped like a pyramid). He makes further allusions with the 'got your girl working for me' and 'hit the strip and my bills paid,' basically regular themes for a pimp in LV. The last chorus explained the dichotomy that can sometimes exist between a pimp and his hoe, where the sexual experiences between them seem so special and intimate in his mind, but he then snaps out of it and realizes 'her Love ain't free no more' and he's simply just another man she lays with free of emotional attachment. Never mix business with pleasure, as they say. This work was a masterpiece beginning to end.

I think it's about 2 different dudes. The first section is from the perspective of a guy whose girl ran off on him. Before, their relationship felt like the pharaoh and his queen. After she leaves him, at first he assumes she must have been kidnapped because they were so happy together, but then he's heartbroken when he finds out she left him for someone else. He considers her dead at that point. The next section is from the pimp's perspective, which is why he speaks in the 2nd person ("got your girl workin' for me etc."). Then the final section is from the original guy's perspective again. He's still totally in love with her and is living out the fantasy of them being still together, but deep down he knows he's just another John Doe to her now ("but your love ain't free no more")

@@pinkfloyd873it is. The trick and the pimp. We were kings and now we’re one of those two. And she was a queen and now is what she is. The fall of a kingdom

As the second half of the song begins and you're talking over it, I'm like "shh, you're missing it!" 😆 Best track on the best album in the last 20 years. Frank is a genius on many levels.

im so happy you just discovered him, the first listen is intense. I would do anything to see him live omg. the story in this song is beyond comprehension, you need to take in every word the juxtaposed comparison between Cleopatra and a stripper named Cleopatra. our world is dark and this song is so accurate every time I listen to this song I truly think this is my favourite song ever.... pain is pleasure unfortunately

Let's freakin' go!!!!!! I am the MVP. This is extremely awesome. Frank is a once in a lifetime artist. I have to recommend so more songs. This reaction is awesome by the way. She was the queen of the Africa, Cleopatra in the first part of the song. She cheated and was cast out. In the second part she is Cleopatra working at the pyramid as a stripper. Also, I agree with Albert that you should react to Nights by Frank Ocean.

It essentially chronicles the fall of the Black woman. Frank is in a completely different league than any of his contemporaries. You can check out the lyrical breakdown of the song on Genius, and you'll find double and even triple entendres. Absolutely a legend.

For me Pyramids is a down-right catchy song that gives me a memory of a white guy I went on a really nice date with and he seemed so serious and I was trying to hold on so strong to this guy he was almost a catch, guys it was (crazy looking back😂😳) Anyway I remember asking him whats his favorite song and he introduced me to this song and this just reminds me of the bliss of things coming together for me during that time in my life. This song is two words: “speed” and “romance” in my book. Btw watcha eatin? 🥺 can I have some? I’m hungry too.

React to Whip Appeal By frank ocean. Vibe: Summertime, sports cars, 80's, silk shirts, highway speeding, hair blowing with the top down

Working on the pyramid means being a slave, that's how they were made in Egypt. Part 1 is Cleopatra betraying her people from the King's perspective and Part 2 is a boyfriend who pimps his gf nowadays, who Frank also calls Cleopatra to connect these two different timeframes on human history to show the impoverishment of black people.
@gotworc10 ай бұрын
You're right about the first part but this song has nothing to do with black people.
