They talk about it in their latest podcast where Danny is a guest. Originally it was a more open coil so easy to get in, they didn't like that so they took something (can't remember what) painted it the same colour and put it in there to make it seem like he couldn't get out.

the best part of the coil bit is that you can clearly see not only the children but an adult who would absolutely be able to see the fully grown naked man yelling for help.
