Heard this on WBUR 90.9 Boston today and was reminded how much I love this song. It was sung by Sting in the movie 'Leaving Las Vegas' so now I have 2 recordings that will always get to my heart. There is something about Frank Sinatra that no one else has and I forgot that he was a smoker, so this video is even more powerful with the execution of the last line fading out....'excuse me while I disappear'....

+Roberta Chadis When Frank was given the song, he thought it would sound better if it started with the refrain. And the rest is history.

Just heard Ella's version and one comment was by a guy who couldn't decide if Sinatra did Angel Eyes better. The answer is, 'He did it better." The reason is the theatre he put into it. He's acting his way through the song, Ella's only singing.

Gary Schlueter Spot on. Try to find his version of "The Man With The Golden Arm" which captures Frank at the very height of his story telling powers. Recorded in 1955 with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, it was the first song by a popular vocalist to tackle heroin addiction but his record company were too scared to release it.

Patricia Walton unfortunately for Ava it eventually caught up and bit her in the name of George C. Scott, cause they say he used to beat her, I dont' remember if Frank got involved however I did read where Frank paid for her funeral :( unrequited love is a B*tch ;0
