I only saw him twice, but I saw Sammy live five times. My two idols since I was 6 years old. While my contemporaries were buying the Beatles and Stones, I was devouring Frank and Sammy. Had the good fortune to meet Sam and get to know Will Mastin in his last years. I am certain that 200 years from now three names (there are a few others I am sure) will be remembered - Sinatra, Monroe and Ali.

Frank is greatest entertainer ever. Period.
@thomaspick41235 жыл бұрын
Frank had a long career, thus many phases to it, plus movies, of which some were very good. I like his Nelson Riddle swing period the best. Besides the feel, Frank had great phrasing of the lyrics. He had about 20 staple hits to perform in a concert. This is significant, when you consider other singers perhaps had 5 or 6 famous songs. Another thing, Frank usually recorded in 1 take. Perhaps up to 3 takes. Very emotional. Other artists can record 70 takes of a song, with all spontaneity gone, rendering a sterile recording. Frank was a smart entertainer, he played what his audience wanted to hear. If it is a good song, I never tire of listening or performing it.
@dr.spectre96974 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree. I consider that period his prime.

Not exactly his cup o' tea, but even Frank wasn't above trying to be current by wearing and singing things that weren't exactly classic.
@MrImiller077 жыл бұрын
it's ironic that Sinatra dressed in a Nehru jacket and love beads, after divorcing Mia Farrow ostensibly because of their generation gap: she was enthralled by The Beatles and the Maharishi and Sinatra loved Vegas and Cole Porter.
@thomaspick41235 жыл бұрын
MrImiller07 Don’t we all? The Cole Porter hit, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, with Frank and Nelson Riddle conducting is a favorite of mine. Frankie Vallie’s version has falsetto and harmonies, also good.
