I deal with a lot of kids like this in coaching. Low impulse control and high time preference so they either blindly rob and steal or are just as happy to stab you and take your shoes. Just all around bad kids. I love them because we have a bond but dont lie to myself about what utter disasters they are. Same homelife as Frank, single mother without a clue and a dozen other siblings in the system. This is why boxing is such a great tool to use with them. Discipline and responsibility. Learning basic strategy and how to control your base instincts. Great vid as usual.

I always wondered how Anthony's legal issues panned out...I remember reading about that going back to the 80s, when he was a prospect who beat Livingstone Bramble. At least he is out.

I think if he listened to his coach more then his mother, he would have been unstoppable. Mom gassed him up. Coaches teach technique.

the heart....something that isn't seen today. he could will himself to win, he made Green quit, took his heart, made him look like a kid.

I love these videos. I don't remember Frank Fletcher, and after viewing his record on Boxrec, there's a reason why I don't and I have always been a huge fan of boxing. 18-6 was pretty average, but still a great video. Thanks
@constantine73822 жыл бұрын
that's a little unfair. Frank was not a great fighter and he wasn't going to beat Hagler. But do a deep dive on his record. They used him up. There was a stretch there where he was in with some REALLY tough guys. I appreciate that but it didn't help him any. Today he would have beaten one contender and waited on his payday. It didn't work like that back then. There was ONE Champion, a REAL Champion, and you had to earn your turn to get knocked out!
@philobeddoe34952 жыл бұрын
@@constantine7382 I'll have to take your word on that. He did lose to some really average fighters early on, so I still have my doubts.
@constantine73822 жыл бұрын
@@philobeddoe3495 No, you are right. He was never going to be a great fighter. But he was entertaining and had a good run there where he beat some quality guys. But every guy they matched him with ended up a life and death struggle and you just can't last that way.
@philobeddoe34952 жыл бұрын
@@constantine7382 I don't remember him, but he looked like he might have been pretty tough even with a very average record. Records aren't always everything, i suppose.
@constantine73822 жыл бұрын
@@philobeddoe3495 He was tough but they fed him to the wolves. You know how different it was then. If you wanted to move up, especially if you didn't have the right backing, you did it the hard way. It was to much for a lot of guys.

It’s amazing… someone that never Boxed would say something like their all sitting in wheel chairs or they are now vegetables. It’s disrespectful snd it shows you know nothing about Boxing and nothing about what it takes to come from nothing, and achieve true greatness. Rich is bringing back fighters some have never seen. These men are Legends, men of Renown. If you don’t have anything positive to say, say nothing at all.

Nice work rich on the animal and I see why they called him the animal lol😁🥊🥊. He wasn't a well polished boxer but In my opinion he had the heart and determination of a boxer to go the distance in the ring. But unfortunately his bad luck with staying out of trouble is really what derailed his boxing career smh. Another great documentary rich📽👍🏾🙂💯

Frank was rush to fast to many tuff fights back to back ..With his style they burned him out....If they would took there time and built him up he would have been a world champion..

I don't think he was going to be champion. He was wanting Hagler and that was suicide. But you are absolutely right! They used him up. Seemed like every weekend he was in with another tough guy. They never gave him an easy mark.

That one vs Clint was magnificent display of skill and will, sadly, Clint had stayed amateur too long at jr middle and those years caught up as a pro. Middleweight era at it's best. Ms Lucille screaming from ringside is priceless, that was a real woman and mother there.

imagine the head trauma, fighters back then were willing to give up their bodies to win. Football players don't take as many shots as these guys. no wonder so many had troubles after the ring, even though this family had troubles before the ring too, their minds are/were damaged heavily.

I do not remember this man, I was a toddler and my dad and uncle didn't introduce me to boxing til I was in kindergarten/first grade, around 1982 - 1983. But after seeing this, I must say one modern fighter who reminds me of Fletcher is James Kirkland - who incidentally, was himself schooled by a woman also. EDIT: Irony is truly funny sometimes. Dude goes to jail for beating up and shooting a woman - then gets paid to get in the ring and beat up a GUY named TONY BRAXTON. 🤣🤣
