I am so happy for my man Sugar Bear! He's livin' off doin' what he loves. I only wish more people in this industry recognized the impact he and others like him have had on overall biker culture. A lot of people would be thoroughly surprised!

In Sugar Bear's shop, he has a wall filled with photos of brothers and sisters riding - from the day and more recent. It's like a mini-museum. I find it disheartening, that in this day and age, he's still excluded. When I asked him about it, he responded: "How many brothers do you see in those magazines?" It hit me, and I replied"None". Wow.

Most Springers are set up for stock rake (the rockers point almost straight up with only 42* of rake and the trees are set all wrong) This guy figured it out in the beginning: it’s not a one size fits all and some people actually want to ride the mountains, long distance and even give the sports bikes a run through the bends... love seeing those rockers actually work, they’re called Springer front ends, not torsion bars.

They state it is an "Edited version of an interview" with Sugar Bear, it damn sure is, Sugar Bear goes on and talks about the front end of his bikes and shows how the front turns so easily and the bike frame does not move at all where as all the other bike makers front ends do not turn near as easily because when you turn the front wheel the rest of the bike moves an inch or more. Some one does not want bikers to know this any more so this interview was edited by Broken Spoke Saloon and shame on their butts for removing the best and most honest part of the interview, I watched the interview before it was edited on here, KZbin.

SugarBear shares that info freely. One of the places he shares it with is at elementary schools. He shows them how math makes the bike.

One hand on the bars does not prove it's stable. Let go of the bars and let it coast. See at what speed it starts to wobble.
@europrowlr4 жыл бұрын
I'll ask Rat about that. Though with the chop and stretch (damn the geometry approach), it's impossible to have a ride that doesn't involve the fight for the stability of motion.

Then you don't understand the value of Sugar Bear's designs. The other guys just cut and stretch. The don't pay any attention to the feel of the ride, which should lead them to understanding how to BUILD. There is math involved, and a little geometry. If you just cut and stretch, you've thrown out the center of gravity. Sugar Bear applies the math. That's why you can see him and Rat riding with one hand. It's that smooth. I've been on the back of Rat's bike going up and down mountains - one handed at times. It's a hardtail - trust me, the ride is not compromised at all.
