I have no problem believing the validity of the new testament, it seems fairly obvious to me, I do, however, struggle with the validity of parts of the old testament, notably the story of Noahs Ark being referenced in the epic of Gilgamesh which was written prior to the bible? If anyone could provide some clairty or point me in the direction of resources that explain this I would be very greatful! :)

The fact the there are different but similar flood myth that exists in almost every part of the world is even more confirmation that there was indeed a worldwide flood and that the Old Testament is truthful. I believe almost every myth speaks of a character who was divinely convicted to build a giant boat, and made a sacrifice to a divine figure after the flood. Atheist know that multiple accounts of a particular incident (even if they are considered to be mythical) adds validity to our burden of proof so they deny that logic to stay consistent with their stance that a world wide flood never happened. At the end of the day. How you apply information depends on where your stance is. But the flood myths in my opinion do not contradict the Old Testament rather it confirms that it is testifying about true events that happened in those times.

Sure, because Turek is so objective. Well first you have to understand, as I say many times in my own vids, that it was written by countless people over centuries separate from each other. And translated through the cultures. And parts may be based on historical events--to an extent. But it has also been modified for the Hebrew culture and later the early Christian viewpoint. The virgin birth is not novel to Christian faith. Neither are the Ten Commandments Christian nor Hebrew. Or the flood story which is neither Christian nor Hebrew. And the real problem is where is the actual evidence for the supernatural? Or actual authorship of witness to Jesus? There is none thus far and period, end of story. Cheers, DCF

If you believe in the convicting power of the Holy Spirit, then why do you calibrate your presentations the way non-Christian salesmen do (i.e., flashy backgrounds, horror-movie effects, which appear geared toward ADHD children who might get bored if you preached the way Paul did in the 1st century)? Admittedly, you are using psychological tricks to get your intended audience interested, but if you believed in the convicting power of the holy spirit, I'm not seeing why you choose to employ such tricks at all. Does the Holy Spirit need your creative marketing ideas to enhance his ability to make people feel guilty? It would seem reasonable, if not infallible, to conclude that you employ such tricks because, despite what you might claim, you think you WILL likely "lose" an intended audience member if you don't employ such tricks. That is, your claim to trust in the convicting power of the Holy Spirit merely highlights your own inability to recognize your true beliefs. You wouldn't be employing so much flash and pomp if you seriously believed in the Holy Spirit today can do all that he did back in the 1st century, where such flash and pomp were unavailable.

Because God told us to use our talents and abilities to fulfill the command he gave. A Christian's main goal is to preach the Gospel, him using all his resources to do that makes him an even greater christian. Youre trying to act like if he's in a church, he's on a show not a temple.
@barryjones93623 жыл бұрын
@@talibanjoebiden4678 I think you misunderstand me. The use of psychological tricks is also employed by con artists and car dealers who realize there is no Holy Spirit, and thus realize that use of such tricks is the only hope they have of increasing the odds of having the victim agree to their scheme. But if God told you to fully employ all of your talents, then why don't you repent of all those times during the day when you aren't evangelizing or doing bible study? Isn't it true that if you watch a secular movie, then you are NOT utilizing your spiritual talents as fully as God allegedly intended? And yet most Christian's today conveniently insist that as long as their non-Christian past-times dont' involve adultery, stealing or murder, then the god they made in their own image "doesn't mind" that they need a break from al this biblical bullshit. LOL

@@barryjones9362 Well I do feel guilty at times but studying scripture helps me understand. Gosh I never thought of it this way. When you tell lies you can make anything sound true. I know there’s a lot of gullible and uninformed people around. It’s a shame charlatans like this pray off of those people.

riny swanson First off let’s get one thing straight, I am not your guy. OK now that we have that out-of-the-way, please take a look at my comment again. I said nothing of the Bible or the gospel, All I did was call Turek out for being a charlatan. I still stand by that statement. And as surprising as this may be to you just because I don’t believe in your or any God doesn’t mean I live a life of debauchery. I don’t love to (sin as you call it), And when I do something I’m not proud of I have to face the consequences. Because I don’t believe that all I need to do Repent in the end it all will be forgiven. I have to make up for the wrongs that I do while I am still here Because I take responsibility for my actions.

riny swanson There seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding here. you are thinking your belief as a fact and not just one of tens of thousands of different God type stories mankind has invented over the years. It’s a common thing when one gets so intertwined in there belief. Of course I know you don’t mean to do that, and now that I pointed it out to you I’m sure you’ll stop persecuting others for not being part of your belief system. . Thanks Have a nice day. Jim

I consider myself Christian, I don’t believe that the stories of the Bible are literally true but I think they convey a story in parables that are meant to explain the correct way to lead your life that will bring about the most good in life for yourself and for others by following the word. I think the explanations he provides can be used to explain other philosophies such as Marxism (which I consider to be religious in nature) could be considered “true” just as he uses them to define the New Testament as true.

If you don't believe that the Bible is the true word of God, then how do you know for a fact that Jesus Christ died for your sins. And if he didn't there would never be a Christian religion. Therefore you WOULD'T be a Christian.

As a Christian, how do you reconcile your belief that the bible stories are literally true with Gods verses such as 2 Timothy 3:16 (‘’All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”) and Matthew 24:35 (“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”).

Marxism cannot be considered a religion, whilst people may choose to follow it as if it were a religion, it is not one. Marxism is a political ideology that suggest how they believe society should be run.

@@Zoe-xy7hg neither of the 2 verses you gave have anything to do with the topic, are you saying that for something to teach you something or for something to rebuke you it can't be literal? Your argument makes no sense if you look at the context of the verses you're reading.
