With that said, in order for the universe to be such finally tuned and balance, its determined that nature itself could not be random. The second law of thermodynamics just support the idea that universe was designed and that it had a beginning

Because anything that has a beginning must have a cause, and things which have a complexity of information which is superior, but supports that which comes after it must have a designer. The designer need not have a cause if it never had a beginning. That which is outside of the omniverse, which exists in eternity, having no beginning or end, does not need a creator.
@wishiwassleeping28296 жыл бұрын
Prior to the big bang matter was so dense that time didn't exist. Also, the way that we perceive time is very limited as we know that other dimensions exist. Time isn't lineal we just perceive it that way. Einstein's theory of relativity recognizes that the speed at which time passes is relative to the speed mass and energy of the vessel. The universe could have existed in the pre-big bang state for a timeless eternity or for just a moment, we don't know. The cosmic microwave background is the only evidence left and it is dissipating as the universe continues to expand.

An atheist like Hitchens was always commiting blasphemy. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that you are probably complacent of withcraft (if its white magic), pagan religions (if they include love), and anything else that explores a universal (all roads lead to heaven) motto. It is very clear your quasi-christian version of God borders on the satanic. You posted your comment just to score points with people that clearly choose not to believe in Jesus Christ and that is dissapointing. I would rather please God by being honest regardless of who I offend than to keep my faith hidden because I have not enough spiritual backbone to defend Jesus Christ and his Kingdom. Uh no, if there are infinite number of days, how could you traverse that infinite number of days and get to today?? How can you have an infinite number of days when we have a present, that means that the infinite comes to an end.
@anepicflyingbrick_48724 жыл бұрын
Bob Rabbins actually no, it is one the the arguments that most scientists, atheist and theist, use to point out that there isn’t an infinite number of days. Besides, the Big Bang proves the universe isn’t eternal so that philosophical statement turned out to be true.

Tertullian. 2nd century theologian and convert to Christianity. Brought in Greek philosophy to the church and was an early proponent of eternal conscious torment of unbelievers, which by the way is both unbiblical and unethical. As a Christian I actually sympathise with Hitch's views on this matter.

1:20 Well dang, Turek had a point going before he was INTERRUPTED. Turek said that science currently shows that the universe could only expand. Turek also said that God has the power to change anything in the universe, even start another big bang. There's no contradiction. As much as another big bang is a manifestation of God's power, so is the lack thereof and the continuance of the current conditions.

That's not the same argument you mentioned in your previous comment. In this case, the argument is that if someone is going to suggest that believers are more moral, then they have to answer the challenge 'name a moral action undertaken of a moral statement made by a believer that could not be made by a non-believer'. This is not a strawman, but a valid response to the assertion that only believers can be moral.

I agree. And of course we are now facing the clear difference in perception and understanding here between the godly and the scientific. The simple statement: 'I can find no evidence to say there is x, so I shall not live my life as if x exists' is incomprehensible or unsatisfying to a theist. So we get misinterpretations about needing proof of absence, or not knowing being merely equivalent to agnosticism. Constant muddying of the issue which is so tiresome.

"If there were an infinite number of moments before today, today never would have gotten here." The gentleman is wrong in his assertion. Time does not coddle man's vanity for lack of a more long winded explanation. Einstein's writings imply that time was something malleable given man's ability to find reason in it. I think it is much more fluid and impartial as to where we fit in.

Turek just opened up the greatest flaw in the theist's viewpoint. They claim that the uniformity of the universe and its succinctness proves an intelligent designer, then state that not only can the designer violate these laws, but HAS violated them. I don't think Frank realizes that infinity isn't a number, it's a concept. There are infinite measurements between 1 inch and 2 inches. You can have infinite time between two points of time because infinity isn't a number. Frank is saying it's impossible to have infinite time between two points of time because he doesn't understand what infinity means.

Indeed, the posterboy for the credulous, Kalamity Craig, makes precisely this argument all the time. 'where do we get authority to call something bad?' You can see why this question might come across as confusing if it is worded in such a way. My guess is Hitchens might respond as usual: 'Not from god, but from a sense of human solidarity required for the current and continued survival of our species' Turek just follows: 'Where did the solidarity come from?' I'd ask him: What do you think Turek: 'God' Me: Where did he come from then? ...and so the cycle would continue
